The perfect wheel size for the SW20Im JDM Yo 11-18-2004, 12:39 AM Whats the perfect wheel size for the SW20 if i plan to do a bit of drag racing, highway cruising, and road racing on the weekends? (SCCA).. I was thinking like a 17x7 on the front, and 17x9 in the rear. Also, is a 17x7 front, and 17x8 in the rear a large enough gap between the front and rear wheels? Because thats all this one company sells, and i really want those wheels.. JekylandHyde 11-18-2004, 07:02 AM If you are looking to do "drag racing, highway cruising, and road racing" 17s are going to probably be your worst choice. 15s are going to be your best bet. ac427cpe 11-18-2004, 11:20 AM 15's or 16's depending on what profile of tire you want to run. and sticky tires, of course ;) Im JDM Yo 11-18-2004, 12:35 PM Can any of you give me any suggestions on wheels? Basically, at this point, i cant find ANY that arent Volks, or Work, or something retardidly expensive. ac427cpe 11-18-2004, 01:11 PM what price range? drazhartd 11-18-2004, 01:24 PM show -> 17s go -> 15s/16s TRD2000 11-18-2004, 02:11 PM yeah i'd go 15 or 16 for race. wouldn't want bigger than 16's. gonna get 18's (volk) for show. i got 16X7 and 16X8 at the moment and that seems fine so if you WANT 17's that should be enough stagger. perhaps you should consider race work on your old (presumably smaller) wheels and put your 17's on for cruising and every day driving. bump. Im JDM Yo 11-19-2004, 12:00 AM Ill go with 16's if i can find a 16x7, 16x8-9 fitment... But all the wheels that even come in staggered fitment in 16 inches are like Volk or Work. Im looking to pay a MAX of 300 a wheel.. drazhartd 11-19-2004, 01:33 AM have you scoured ebay? I got a killer deal on my ADRs there :) Im JDM Yo 11-19-2004, 03:02 AM its extremely hard to find staggered wheels on ebay :( JekylandHyde 11-19-2004, 06:54 AM As long as you stagger the tire size, staggering the rim is not crucial. TRD2000 11-19-2004, 04:50 PM mines staggered will try and find out what they are... never bothered before (came with them on)\ seen lots of others staggered though. 1piece so not exp. jeckyls right though... just need to stagger tyres. in fact would prob be good. running a narrow tyre on a wide rim kinda stretches the tyre out more and makes it roll less... good thing on the front cause it helps your turn in and steering reaction. bluemister2 11-23-2004, 01:03 PM go here www.kodiakracingwheels.com Im JDM Yo 11-23-2004, 02:41 PM Link brokedid. bluemister2 11-24-2004, 12:49 PM worked for me ac427cpe 11-24-2004, 01:07 PM works for me too... those are some pretty sweet rims try this: http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/prices.html bluemister2 11-24-2004, 01:12 PM yeah. I was thinking about getting 15"x10" or 16"x10" don't know what style though Im JDM Yo 11-24-2004, 01:39 PM worked for me Holy shit dude... I said on a budget like 4 posts up. Those are like 400 per wheel for a 16x9 JekylandHyde 11-24-2004, 01:41 PM What size tires are you guys planning on running that you want a 9" or 10" rim? ... keep in mind that adding rotational mass to your car drastically affects acceleration. bluemister2 11-24-2004, 01:42 PM Im looking to pay a MAX of 300 a wheel..---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lol. my bad maybe you can get them to give you a deal or something Im JDM Yo 11-24-2004, 01:59 PM Im looking for a 16x6 on the front, 16x9 in the rear. Acceleration doesnt bother me that much if its a 16x8, or 16x9. Im looking for a mix between handling and styling. If i want to go faster, ill sacrifice the 3lbs of a larger rear wheel, then turn the boost up a tad, or ill buy another mod to compensate. bluemister2 11-24-2004, 02:12 PM that would look really good with a setup like that. I love wide wheels and stretched tires! JekylandHyde 11-24-2004, 02:53 PM I would not recommend going more than 1" in stagger between your rims. I would sueggest first figuring out what size tires you want, before you decide on what size rim. 6" rim is awfully narrow for the front and 9"/10" is really too wide for the back. What size tires do you want to run? As for my comments about weight, there is a huge difference between 20 lbs of weight on your wheels and 20 lbs of weight laying on your passenger seat. Rotational weight is very taxing. Im JDM Yo 11-26-2004, 04:31 AM Incase anyone else was waiting in anticipation, i found a good idea of what im looking for, gunmetal and all... http://www.modacar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=M&Category_Code=ROTA Rota GT3 Gunmetal Black. Light, staggered, cheap, and nice looking. spikeman 12-02-2004, 10:16 PM If you're looking for cheap wheels go with rotas www.jaydm.com vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
