Whistling from 2000 JGC

I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Larado and I get a very loud whistling noise coming from the drivers side engine. It happens frequently, but I've only got it to do it two times when I've had a mechanic in the vehicle. It happens when letting off of the gas going down the road, and if the gas is applied the noise stops. I replaced the vaccum line and that didn't do a thing. The whistle is very loud and happens at various speeds. Please Help. All of my mechanics are stumped.

I also have a 2000 JGC and have the same problem. In cooler weather
as the engine warms up the whistling starts. Under no engine load it
is present but under load it stops. If I do not drive the heat of the
engine eventualy stops the whistle,but as soon as I run it down the road
for a few minuits it starts again.The belt and all pullies are fine.The fact
that it stops under load indicates it is vacume or fuel related.Tonight
I will spend time to investigate it further.This morning I got another clue ....
I stoped the engine and for a slight moment the whistle continued while
the engine was not rotating.I will let you know how I make out.
P.S I have been chasing this for a week now !!! :banghead:

Sounds like you Front Pinion Bearing is the problem.
Is it a whistling noise or more of a whinning/whirring noise?

I have the same issue in mine on the drivers side in the engine compartment. happens at higher speeds(freeway)....

I don't know if this will help but, I get a whistling noise from my 98 Larado. It's a whistling noise like the window is crack opened or something while driving. I discovered that it happens when the AC is off or on recircleate, when I switch it to fresh air the noise stops. I have not had a chance to really get in there to see why this is happening, I assume the intake for the AC is not closing correctly.
