93 corsica running problems

hello,
i have a 93 corsica and when i am driving it some times surges and some times it stalls .....i have replaced the TPS sensor on it and it seemed to work for that day but now it still is doing the same thing stalling and or surging........Now this morning i noticed that there is fuel coming from near the fuel filter under the rear of the car its not the filter thats leaking but there is another line under there which looks to be about 1/2" dia. and goes from steel to rubber and appears to have some type of plastic connection any ideas on what this part is? and what the problem with the car is?

The feul feed and return lines run right next to each other. Its possible the return line may have dryrotted and cracked and is leaking.
The surging and stalling can be any number of things. Has the SES light ever cut on when it does this?

As a matter of fact i fixed a leak in my fuel return line but i still have the stalling and now a strong fuel smell and yes as of today the SES light did come on for about 5 minutes but went back out

OK you'll want to try and pull the code for that SES light. Under the dash on the drivers side there is a black connector. Fold a paper clip into a U shape and jam it into the two top right plugs. Turn the key to the ON posistion but DONT start it. If you got it plugged in right your SES light will begin to flash. It will flash out each code three times, starting with a code 12. Which will be: flash... flash flash. For another example a code 43 would be, flash flash flash flash... flash flash flash, = 43. Easy enough, so try that and write down what you get. If you've got a haynes manual the codes are listed in chapter 6 I think? If not you can post the results here and I can look em up for you.
You've got some kind if a feul pressure problem it seems to me. Possibly a rusted or cracked feed line. If the engine doesnt get the right feul pressure it wont run right and can stall if its bad enough.

i am being told its an EGR Valve and to just unplug it
...this may sound dumb but where is it on this type of car i know what it looks like since i have changed one before but i cant seem to find it on the car any ideas?

if you have the 3.1L v6, then its located at the right rear corner of the intake plenum. it should look like it has three towers on it, and will have a three wire connector plugged into the top of it.
however simply unplugging it may not help you any, if there is a piece of carbon stuck in it, then the car will still run the same.
on thing you can try, is while you have it on the freeway, try giving it several full throttle bursts. sometimes this can dislodge any carbon stuck in the pintle openings.

i have unplug it tho... it still does some surging but it dont have the heavy fuel smell like it did before.. carbon stuck?? would i be able to see this if it is infact so?

Sounds like your getting the EGR code because you unplugged it.
Heres what you do: Take off the three nuts that hold the egr valve on, pry it back from the intake plenum, get a thin peice of metal that will fit over the EGR valve opening but between the studs in the plenum. Use some rtv black silicone to make a gasket so it wont leak and to hold the peice of metal in place. Now put the egr valve back on over the metal and tighten the bolts down. (dont over tigthen them cuz you can crack the plenum, just get them snug with a wrench) Reconnect the electrical connector and you're all set. :grinyes:

any other ideas as to why it keep stalling i have changed the IAC Control and the TPS Control and the EGR as well and it still keeps on stalling out when i brake for a light or just to stop in general some times it also When i start the car it runs at a very HIGH Idle for a few seconds then goes down to normal running speed.
