We just bought a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 in Sept. Well today my husband drove it work. He didn't have much gas in it. When he got to work it was running just fine. But when he went to come home today it wouldn't start for anything. He got some gas and put in it but it still won't start. I'm thinking that maybe its the fuel pump switch. But I don't have any idea where it is. Could somebody help me?? PLEASE!! I want to try this before I go and spend the money for a new pump. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

HI TRY HAVING HIM TURN THE KEY ON AND SEE IF HE CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CLICK. YOU CAN'T RUN THEM LOW IF YOU RUN OUT OF GAS IT CAN BURN THE FUEL PUMP UP. THE GAS IS WHAT KEEPS IT COOL, IT RUNS ALL THE TIME. THERES A RELAY IN THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX RIGHT BEHIND THE BATTERY. IF YOU TURN LID OVER IT TELLS WHICH ONE IS FOR FUEL PUMP. THE RELAYS ARE ALL THE SAME SO YOU CAN SWAP THEM TO SEE IF THE RELAY IS WORKING. HOPE THIS IS OF HELP DALE jeepman600@aol.com QUESTIONS JUST HOLLER

Today he got it to start. It was the fuse. But now it will start then stall right away. What could be the problem?? I was thinking maybe the emergency shut off button for the fuel needed to be pushed so the fuel will flow again. But we don't know where it is. Do you know where it could be??

it could be the Auto shutdown Relay (ASD), but it sounds like a possible IAC valve failure (Idle Air Control), try this when it starts give it gas for about a minute (idle around 1500 rpms) and the let off the gas.

He got it to start one time. Then it stalled right away. Now it won't start at all.

He says yes but he's gonna check to tomorrow for sure. Also, now he is saying that he doesn't hear the fuel pump running

Hi, Ask him to check if the tachometer needle regesters when he cranks the engine over or if it moves at all. If you want a test for camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor give a holler at jeepman600@aol.com Dale

I just found out there is no such button. Which doesn't make sense to me. He's gonna check the tac tonight.

There is a relay in the power distribution box right behind battery it has a ASD relay You can check its marked on lid which is the ASD relay. You will hear the fuel pump click when you turn key on . It doesn't run till you have jeep started. It just primes the fuel rail for a start. The ASD relay controls spark and fuel. Check by swaping with one of the other relays they are all the same. well he tried everything he could think of lastnight. He said something about takeing the hose off? It started for about 5 seconds then stalled. But when he had the hose off there was no gas coming through them. So we went ahead and bought a new fuel pump. Hopefully that is the problem.
