Ok I read this on another forum, I seen thisd problem b4 about a smell coming from the heat/air when used, I don't remember what the problem was but heres his description.

"so for the past couple weeks or so, there's been a funky smell coming out the vents when you put the normal air/circulation/defrost or heat on (so we leave it off). it's not a chemical-type smell..it just smells like a funk.... i was thinking there was a dead bird or mouse under the hood or a moldy 6' long rancid submarine sam'ich under the there......is this bizarre or sound familiar at all (i have no clue..already looked under the hood).....any ideas would be appreciated....jokes and smart *ss comments too for that matter....its starting to get cold in IL and can't have dw and kids driving around in a funk "

Whenever I had a bad smell coming from my heater in past vehicles it was usually the catalytic converter!

yea I was thinking that the Cat was plugged, but he said it wasn't exhaust fumes it was some chemical smell or something.

I've never experienced a chem smell so I'm not sure, but I have had those "funky" smells & its always been the cat!

Sounds like you have the classic mold smell that sorta smells like a 3 week old dirt diaper is stuffed under the dash. There is a disinfectant spray you can spray in the cowl with the air on that will take care of it. Also check the carpets to make sure no water go on them. Make sure the evaporator drain is clear. Cycle the ac on at least once a week
