Hello All. I have a 1996 Stratus, 2.4L 4 cylinder engine with 110K miles. I've had the following problem occur 5 times over the last 6 months. On the first start of the day, the engine will crank but will not fire. It acts as if it's not getting either fuel or spark. I then walk away, and try it 30 minutes to an hour later - it then easily starts and runs as if nothing was wrong. Each time this has happened 1) the car gave no indication of a problem the night before, 2) the overnight weather was cool, and 3) the "check engine" light did not turn on. On two of the five times this happened, I saw the infamous "no buS" message briefly flash on the odometer while the engine was cranking. However, both times the message disappeared when I released the key and did not reappear with subsequent start attempts. I've had no other problems with the instrument cluster. One other thing I've noticed is that after driving a few miles, the TCM relay in the fuse box by the air cleaner is warm - I don't know if this is normal. Any help is greatly appreciated.

the "No bUS" message means you have a communication problem between one of your modules. In this case, sounds like the PCM is not talking the BCM just momentarily. Go to a Chrysler dealer, and have them do a scane test on the system to see if they can pull up any body codes in history.
