530i Vs. Golf GTi VR6 In The Funniest Street Race EverDorikin 11-15-2004, 09:32 PM Bit of a back story. My dad and I took my little bro(12) out to a go kart place for his bday. He was driving. The 530i is bone stock, automatic. Later on, my dad, my bro and I were heading home, when these two 2nr wannabe types in a VW Golf VR6 with chrome wheels a fat muffler and purple paint roll up, and start pointing at us. I try and tell my dad to race them, but hes not having any. Finally, we come up with a plan. My dad will rev at them, and then, when the light turns green, they'll speed off, and we will stay there for a second or two, making them look like douche bags. So they light changes, they peel out, smoking the tires, and ripping the engine, while we're chilling there. But then my dad sees theyre also getting on the highway, so he gets competitive. He speeds up, and is almost riding their bumper all the way up the on-ramp. Thats a pretty good pace considering they accelerated way quicker than us. Finally we're on the highway, and theyre about 3 meteres ahead. They pull into the right lane and boot it, but they get boxed in by oncoming traffic. We're in the centre lane at this point. My dad and the Golf Driver see an opening in the far left lane, my dad squeezes by, just as the Golf driver is pulling into the now open centre lane. The Golf Driver takes off and gets a decent lead. My dad hammers the gas, with his foot to the floor, and we fly off, and close in on them. Just before we pass them, we roll down the windows(me and my brother do), and do the Pop Tarts "BEEAAAAAAMMMM" thingy. (Canadian joke) Rob, who was following behind us in his car, said that he saw most of it, and when he drove by, the dudes in the Golf had their mouths hanging open. Its hard to explain, but it was good fun. Ace$nyper 11-15-2004, 09:34 PM Nice story man lol great kill for the pop too eh? Good to se you back on AF mate! Dorikin 11-15-2004, 09:38 PM Hahah words out of my dads mouth "I didnt even use the Sport mode(on the transmission theres 2 shift maps) Honestly, I thought we would lose, but god damn that car pulls SO hard. Its like a bloody diesel engine. From 2000-6400 is this massive surge of torque, even with an auto-tragic, it was great. What? I've never heard of one. There's plenty of diesel bmws, just not in the states. JohnC24 11-16-2004, 11:56 AM Nice kill. That is pretty funny that your BMW is an auto and that you still killed them. GOOD JOB!!!! TypeS 11-16-2004, 12:17 PM I don't know about 530s, but a lot of people underestimate the 540is. If I ever got a BMW, it would be an M3, M5 or a 540i! They look so sleeperish but I've heard of people running low 14s high 13s with them. There's a black one by my work with tinted black windows all around. It's one of the hottest stock looking cars I've seen. GOOD JOB!!!! why does everyone think autos are slow its easier to kick someones ass in a auto than a manual Dorikin 11-16-2004, 06:29 PM I don't know about 530s, but a lot of people underestimate the 540is. From a rolling start, any BMW has an advantage. They all have a huge wack of midrange torque, thats the way theyre designed. Sure you give up some "on paper speed" (slower 0-60 and 1/4 times), but where it counts, the power is all there. I suppose the 530i needs to go to the track, to get a timeslip. C/D magazine got 0-60 in 6.8 seconds with the big wheel package and auto tranny. If only I could get my dad to modify the damn thing :grinyes: TypeS 11-17-2004, 01:40 AM Well, I wouldn't say any BMW has the advantage because those GTIs can be made quick fairly easily, but stock for stock, most BMWs should take them. True, I dont know what these guys had aside from a muffler. BMWs can also be made fairly quick too. JohnC24 11-18-2004, 11:33 AM depends on how fast and accurate you are with a stick. you shift slow you gonna be slow, shift fast youll be moving fast. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
