And that is freaking sweet! We are learning Illustrator in my Digital Media class, but im no where near that skill level, holy cow!

Dude that looks fanastic. I have half a nurve to say your lieing but I wont. :) So why don't you post some stages of that work or write a tutorial? I can tell you did it in AI becuase of the slick tires and the lack of cast shadow. I would add a cast shadow that is just me though.

btw, this is only the second picture i've made with illustrator.

i had a project for a class where i had to take a picture of a cell phone and just use the pen tool to create the whole thing. i finished, and liked it, so i thought i'd try it with a car.

there's not much of a tuturial i can give. it's basically all done with the pen tool and gradients. if you can get good at that, that's all there is...

it was done on the computer, yes. based on that same photo you posted.

tools used: pen tool, eclipse tool, gradient tool, and type tool.

a couple of days, i don't really remember. it's been awhile since it was finished.... back in march, i think.

we were given a bunch of different shapes in illustrator for practice, and with the pen tool we had to outline them as best we could. i just did it over and over until i learned how to work with the tool..

once i felt comfortable with it i was able to do that..

just takes practice, time and basically one tool. :lol:

don't know much about graphic programs, but from what I can see, it looks like TONS of effort and time were put into this piece. Great job!

I am very good w/ the pen tool. I was just wondering what the various methods are for coloring the car. It seems you just jumped in and did what ever you felt was right? No ryme or reason or am I wrong?

I have two drawings of JDM Tegs but I haven't colored them because I was trying to figure out what was the best way to do that. I guess I just need to play around w/ them, like you. I will post them if you want to see them.

yup.. it will take awhile, just play around with the gradients until it looks right.
