After researching for a while i decided that turbocharging isnt for me. Too much maintainance/parts/hassle. So ive been looking into superchargers and im really starting to like them. Im not looking to run high boost and put my engine online- Jackson racing has what im looking for, just a little something extra for my daily driver(on jacksons site they had a dyno reading of 40hp gains and 20foot/lbs torque)To my understanding these kits can run on a stock motor. .My only problem is that im not able to find that much information online about superchargers ohter than company sites.

does anyone have a supercharged civic? If you do what are your thoughts? What are your complaints/good comments? Do you know of any online communities just for supercharged civics(be it vortech or jackson superchargers? Your input will be appreciated.

i know that many people do not like roots superchargers like jacksons but im not looking for a tremendous amount of power, so try to keep flaming to a minimum.

Are you supercharging a D16 or do you have an Si w/ B16? If you find a supercharger for a D16 you should post the price and dyno results on this thread.

all the JRSC related questions and problems that ever popped up should be covered here.

thanks superblue, i found that forum and it is pretty nice. good community.

schister66 the dyno report is on JR's site. Of course thats probably the best, optimal dyno results. Average gains are most likely a little less, but thats fine for me.

for the price of a supercharger that puts down only 40hp, you can put a custom turbo kit that puts 100 down.

wouldnt a setup that puts 100hp on a stock d16 be a little too much. I would have to rebuild my head(i have over 120000 miles on my civic) and put forged pistons to handle boost that would produce those numbers. Im sure i can find all the parts for way cheap that a brand new JR supercharger. But for reliabilitys sake my civic is my daily driver and i wouldnt be able to blow up my engine. Im just looking to keep up with stock b16s and B18s.

i think that a custom turbo setup would be awesome for power but not reliability. i have a >2g budget and cannot be breaking shit.

True, but, aphex301 has a D. Things are a little different from a D and a B. Ask yourself, what things i need to do to put some good numbers down on a turbo D? No doubt a boosted SOHC putting down some good numbers is a sight to see, but, I think aphex301 has already clearly stated that he doesnt need 100 more hps. Me however, I would have gone with a swap for more power.

The turbo puts out more power no doubt about that.

Anyways, I had my turbo HB or SCed si to drive around. I choose the JRSC si to get from point A to point B.

I drove the turbo HB too, but, the JRSC was my daily because it was alot more comfortable to drive with. I didnt drive it much so i sold it to my little brother, pulled out the hondata unit, and put it on my JRSC si.

I just liked the stop and go driving of the JRSC over the turbo, especailly after the dyno tuning it was a different animal. The turbo was a good stop and go driver too, but, I just liked the sc more.

Besides, there are plenty of turbo vs supercharged threads, just go review them. this is just one shmoes experience explained.

Well guess what happened everybody. My car is TOTALLED "total loss of earnings" or something like that. And my plans to SC my D16, well went to shit. I only thought there was 3 grand of damage but state farm thought different. Im getting my check friday for the retail amount of my car, which should be around 5g's. Im now looking in the direction of an 99-00 si or a second gen turbo'd eclipse. Thanks guys for you help, this was really a shock to me. i loved my civic, it was a little on the slow side, but hey i learned how to drive stick in it, lol. But this may turn into a good experience.
