need stronger trannie, maybe skyline?lucki17 11-13-2004, 02:54 AM okay so i will soon have about 300-400hp in my 89 240, the problem? i have an auto trannie, and from what i have heard the auto trannie is pretty much useless after 210hp, im probably going to just get a manuel trannie but i was wondering if i could stick a skiline trannie in their, im not sure what one but obviously rwd, maybe from an rb20? dont have any idea if it would work just curious, seems like the hardest part would be wiring it up. but yeah, please dont think im retarded for asking i just like auto trannies, i can drive stick and they are fun, but with 350hp i think it would be a little more complicated to drive, and im not talking about 1/4 mile racing im talking about racing up the moutains, so i have to turn alot, and the occasional drift, but yeah, tell me what you think about a skyline trannie in a 240sx niswiz 11-13-2004, 10:25 AM i dont think the RB tranny would hook up to the KA/SR engines. racr12 11-13-2004, 12:01 PM I dont think an rb series transmission whould fit. But....... a friend of mine has put a s15 6-speed on his KA-24DET and it is badass. You might try to find an auto s15 tranny from japan. I believe the only mod you have to make to the transmission to make it fit is to change the bell housing and put the one off the ka tranny on it and maybe a little bit of wiring changes to make the speedometer work. XeVeNskyLiNE 11-13-2004, 01:44 PM i'm pretty sure about everyone else here will tell you not to go with the S15 tranny, mainly because its a 6 speed crammed in the size of a 5 speed, so that gearbox wont be too reliable either, but i think it outa handle 300hp-400hp easily. i bet it'd cost alot to even get one shipped over here. doesnt HKS make a 6 speed tranny for SR20s (S13-14)? i think i saw that once, but it was crazy exspensive. try some junk yards and find a 5speed and pray to god it isnt already jacked up, and about the rb tranny, uhhhhhh good look on that one bruh Xtreme_098 11-13-2004, 02:18 PM You could just rebuild it. R.W.240 11-13-2004, 03:16 PM Using an automatic for something other than drag racing... especially mountain racing = :gay: Miata Master 11-13-2004, 06:53 PM Get the one you have rebuilt with some strong gears. bu better yet get a manual rebuilt with better gears. auto is for noobs and bumber to bumber traffic. not to much of that is the mountains that I know of. an auto can get you into trouble if it decides to shift when you dont want it to. but go with whatever you feel you need. and the RB tranny aint gonna fit. PS. and there is a big difference between 300 and 400 and rwhp and fhp. so please is it 300fwp or 400rwhp. stock manual can handle 300fwp I believe. Tougeman 11-13-2004, 11:46 PM most of they s15 trannys that have problems are because the car is pushing 500+ hp lucki17 11-14-2004, 02:09 AM yeah im really thinking im going to just do a 5-speed conversion, i dont want an sr20 so i dont think ill be getting the 6-speed *damn* oh well, ill probably have around 300 hp so guess ill just try and find a 89-90 manual in good shape, oh that remindes me, will a dohc trannie fit a sohc? logik23 11-14-2004, 02:22 PM The D1 Garage Silvia has an R33 RB25DET tranny on it's SR so maybe it does fit on the KA.... billclinton 11-15-2004, 01:22 PM isnt the auto in the 240 the same as the skyline rb20 auto vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
