Theres this kid i know from Nevada that swears he knows someone that has a 800 hp STREET DRIVEN civic that can do 170 mph.

I really can't/don't/wont believe this. As much as i'd like to admit to it, a 800 hp is not feasible for the street. Strip only, but street, no.

he says the civic has a twin turbo v6 and when i asked if it has torque steer, he responded that it has no power steering.

Can someone give me a reason too belive this?

And for the measure, he told me that honda has some "civic a-spec" thats got a 240hp v6, and theres a skyline a spec as well.

I have seen a video of a street-legal (in Washington State) Civic dyno at 721WHP, with about 500ft-lbs of WTQ - slipping at peak. That should be real close to 800 crank, if not over.

First off street driven and daily driven are two totally different things.Which one is it did he take it out to the races on the weekends or does hee drive it to work everday.Once a week I can believe every day is a load of bull. Now Acura has a new TSX A- spec that has 271 HP and The skyline a V spec so this kid is crazy!!!

Based on the 240hp civic and the skyline a spec which isnt even an acura car id have to give the kid a little smack and send him back to him mommy

I have seen daily drivers with over 900 whp, but those were Supras and Porsches. i'm with you on this one...i call :bs: until he gets some solid proof.

well that works, but i heard of 300hp civics having problems. BTW he says its 800 wheel hp. But i mean a V6?

Its a V6 well that changes everthing, its still a load of bull.Whats the displacement and dont tell me 3.8

I've never seen V6 civics, so I'm thinking its BS as well. And if it was 800 hp, it can easily do 170, I don't doubt that. What I doubt is that it actually is 800 hp

Twin turbo V6!!

Damn, totally missed that part, although I knew he was bullshitting, despite my last comment.

Well, here in Utah, there is a Guy in SLC, who owns a 700hp Civic Hatch. Daily driver too if I remember right. My old boss knew him. Names Courtney Green. Maybe Polygon might know of him. I've never met him but I hear his car is nuts. But awhile back on Ebay some guy made a custom V8 Miata. I don't have proof of this, but I remember seeing the damn thing. You can call BS cause I don't have anything to back it up. Anyway. So maybe the V6 is not too farfetched of an idea. But still, you never know, people out there will do some crazy things with their cars if they have the money to try it. Late...

That alone gives it away.

100% BS. You should dickslap the kid.

if that civic actually exists, then it probably has more like around 400 hp, not 800. my brothers wrx has like 320 awhp, and i heard some kid brag to his buddy about how it had 500-600 awhp, which is way off. i was in disbelief, and thought it was really funny, but i didnt say anything.

I've seen a video of a civic producing 550hp on dyno, and it ran a 10.7

ive seen a RWD CRX with a 600hp twin turbo chevy 350. used a custo mtrans axle or something, however 800hp to the front wheels is like putting 500hp on a motorcycle (stupid assed dodge). you would never get to use or hook up all of its power. now its its RWD that is more than feaseable. and streetable twin turbo V6 is more than feaseable. just thing of F1. the type of power they get out of 3000cc V10's lasting for 500miles...though it is in the 15,000RPM range, and after that 500miles the engine is either striped and rebuilt or trashed... but possible... but it would cost more than its worth...if your going for thoes types of numbers at least start out with and already RWD vehicle so a whole new car doesnt have to be built with just your original cars body...

F1s run closer to 20000rpms

-Josh-
11-11-2004, 08:57 PM
Yeah i thought they idled at 10-12K rpm's, so 20K sounds about right.

As for 800HP, that's kind of like overkill for a civic if it is true. I can't imagine the kind of problems someone would have trying to drive that thing around.

in regards about the v8 miata...i've seen pics from another board. There's a company out there don't know the name, they make conversion kits to put the ole pushrod 5.0 engine out the old stangs into miatas. I've only seen pics i have no proof of the conversion all i can say is that i have seen it.

F1 redline at 20k. they start making good power about 14-15k from what ive heard, but i may be wrong...

Well, while we're talking about extreme mods, has anyone ever seen this:

http://www.mymobis.com/kyojoo2/torbo.wmv

It's a twin engine Tiburon. One in the front, one in the back. Both turbocharged. :D

F1's idle at about 3,000rpm due to the fact that they have such a small flywheel.

It's only about 8" in diameter.

They redline near 18,000rpm.

I know these things, cause a friend of the family works for TRD and used to build those motors. Now he builds the V8 motors for the Tundra race trucks in the Craftsman series.

ROTFLMFAO!!! this kid is full of shit...WAY full. on the other hand, a personal friend of mine has a 750+ whp civic, running a b-series. its possible for a civic to make the power. but that dude is still in need of a mushroom imprint on his forehead.

even if it is true...why i ask you WHY!?!?! WHY to a civic...must have taken a LOT of effort, in fact, too much to be true.

that cars bad ass if it is 800hp, ive built a couple street engines running about 550hp and thos still move. He could prolly do it with twin turbos and 150psi of nos, bored out .300. And yea this engine wouldnt be driven daily the thing would prolly overheat in 5min in traffic.

the thing is why would you want to do that to a civic? a lot of pro cars out there are running n/a 10 second 1/4 miles and they only have about 250-350hp! Its all in gearing. Anyone who builds an 800hp civic needs to sit down and rethink what they are doing. There is no need for 800hp in a civic, sure its cool, but its overkill.

I'd say an extra zero was added to the HP numbers.

Last I heard, teh F1 cars were running 100mm diameter clutches, so an 8" diameter seems a little bit big (though not much) to me. Idle is at 4-5k, redline is between 17k-20k depending on the engine.

that's because when you go for something like that the weight difference changes and weight sorta act like power in a way.. and i believe for ever 100lbs dropped you gain about a .20 - .40 of a second

but thats on the salt plains. As in its prepped for that. All i know is that it has 800hp and is driven on the street.
If he told me the civic was a drag car, then i'd believe him.
I say 800hp isnt streetable because of the fwd (and the fact that if the engine is a honda 4 cylinder) its super peaky and would have a high idle cuz of that. A civic != a supra. Theres enough of streeteble 800hp supras for me to believe that. As for the V8 miata, i know about that and the kits to convert as well as the V8 focus (cmon, people will drop a hunka american iron into anything) V8 rx7? know about that too. How about a V8 skyline?
Extracting info from this kid is like pulling teeth.

Apparently, this same civic guy's dad has a 2khp nova?

I need a father like that.
