Aztek Ugly

I came to this forum because i was trying to find information on how to remove the battery and find all this discussion on how ugly the car is! That seems so absurd - if one despised the looks of a vehicle, one wouldn't buy it. It's not like it's a gift from your Aunt Jane and you have to use it to keep the peace.
Personally, and I'm in a minority here, I really don't care what a car looks like. My concern when finding a vehicle was comfort as I have rheumatoid arthritis and cannot even get in or out of most cars. When I test drove the Aztek, it was the most comfortable for crippled up old folks like me. So far, so good but I haven't had it long enough to really pass judgement. Ask me about a Ford - -. Check it out yourself. Do a search for "complaints Ford" then do the same for a couple of other makes and compare. I wish I had done that before I bought a Windstar in 1997. I did do it prior to purchasing this 2001 Aztek. Obviously there will be complaints about every make and model out there, but I think you can get a fair idea of the reliability by comparing the numbers. If there has been a recurring problem that could put you in the poor house, you will probably find that also as I did with the Ford, but too late. I really like the way this car handles also, but again I have only had it a couple of months. Two of my 3 children made the "That is the ugliest car I've ever seen!" comment. But one of them borrows it every chance she gets.

Aztek is one of those hate em or love em suv's...personally I'm one of the hate em's. I will ask in your opinion does it feel like your driving a humvee or a car. It's hard for me even guess because the tires are small like a car but the shape and height is boxy like a humvee.

Fortunately for us, we've weeded out the idiots who have come in and posted all those "these cars suck" threads. The threads you are seeing are what's left.

My wife loves the Aztek I bought her. I drive it as well and except for being lighter weight & shorter it is much the same as my Montana. It beats my Montana and most vehicles hands down for backing up due to the split rear window. I know a lot of folks comment negative on the rear window but once you drive the car for a few days you don't even notice it anymore and we have the spoiler.

With crippling arthritis, I find it wonderful just to find a vehicle that I am able to get in and out of and drive comfortably. It is also nice that passengers are comfortable, even in the back seat. Easy maneuverability, narrow turning radius and good gas mileage are other options I had looked for. Since I was never a soldier, I cannot speculate on how it feels to drive a “humvee”; nor can I speculate how it feels to drive a vehicle with oversized tires. This is a moot point anyway since I understand they are no longer making the Aztek. For those coming here for the same reason I was, that is to get a handle upon the reliability, then I would tell them I’ve had no problems, I like the car and don’t care what it looks like.

My wife is 5' 10" with long legs, she drove a subaru for years here in Alaska, she was diagnosed with MS some years ago and trying to get in and out of most cars was too difficult and she hated minivans or over priced SUVs, the Aztek AWD was perfect for her and it performs wonderfully here in Alaska plus it was a lot cheaper than almost anything near its class.
