2000 Sil, intermitent message comes up with Service Traction System. Sometimes it does this at startup, sometimes while riding down the road. I connected my AutoXray scanner up but no MIL was there. Anybody had this problem? Thanks in advance

I had this same problem with our 2001 Silhouette and was unable locate any like problems on the net. This warning light was intermittent and at first the dealer couldn't locate a code. About one month later, I went back and they pulled a code for defective brake light switch. They replaced this switch and it didn't correct the problem. Had the van in for an intake manifold gasket replacement and the "Service Traction System" warning light activated again. They discovered the problem to be a defective left rear tail lamp printed board, which was corroded from water damage. The connector to this board it had shorted out and melted a portion of the connector. However; the short didn't cause any of the lamps to dim or burn out. Hope this helps others as it has been a very frustrating situation.

Same problem with our 2000 Silhouette & thanks to Charlie502 & this forum, I located problem immediatly & made repair. The "Service Traction System" warning light was intermittent, but also the left signal light flashed at high speed (sometimes) & both dash signal indicators lit solid when right signal light on & brake pedal depressed! Problem was a burnt ground pin on the plug attached to the left rear tail lamp. The connector had overheated and melted a portion of the connector, bulbs still worked but not the correct brightness. Couldn't repair pin & plug, so cut the one wire off the plug, installed a crip ring connector and screwd to the back of light assembly through plastic by drilling small hole into internal metal ground strap, & using self tapping screw. Works great & didn't cost a cent.
