Looking to put rims on your CrewCab, better think again!Criminal 11-08-2004, 07:14 PM I want to give all of you an inside scoupe ono a problem with the 03 and o4 Silverado Crewcabs. There is a problem with the suspension. When Chevy started putting the Crewcab body on the extended frame they had to rework the suspension components. Chevy has run into problems with this setup paired with oversixed wheels and tires. It is causing parts to be broken and in some cases the frame itself has cracked. There is yet to be a repair made available. I will post more as I here more. Oh yeah, one other thing. If you do not have the Chevy brand 20 inch wheels and you have a problem it will NOT be covered under your warranty. gschretter 11-08-2004, 07:47 PM Why put big rims on a car. In racing they do it because they have bigger rotors. I love to see guys with those 20" wheel and 13 inch rotor or better yet drums. If you only knew what race people think of those guys. It is one of the biggest on going joke ever. A guy in a YUGO gets more respect than someone with a lower truck and 20" wheels. Oh my point. The reason for the failures is probably because a truck was not made to be lower into the weeds with 20" rim. A truck is made to be jacked up 20" inches to run over those rice rockets cars with the 18". Dam I sounds like a red neck. Oh I am. TwentyPints 11-08-2004, 08:29 PM i could have put 20s on mine, but they i realized sure it looks cool for 20 minutes, but its a truck, not a rice rocket! so i just put on some real mudders with TREAD (they are only 16 inch but who cares). not some lame low profile tire you gotta slow down to go over speed bumps in. No body gives a fuck what "racers" think of big rims and lowered trucks. I love hearing ignorant comments like "A truck is made to be jacked up 20" inches.....". Where is it written that that's the thing to do. And how can you say lowering and big rims are going to mess up the truck. You obviously don't know anyone with huge lifts. Unless you spend thousands and thousands on the suspension, transmission, brakes, etc you're going to tear the truck up even worse trying to turn the massive tires. So therefore, you're comment made absolutely no sense. You sound like a poser, and only do what people around you like. You afraid of what others might think of your likes and dislikes. Don't come in here and start saying stupid shit like that when you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Especially when it has no relevance whatsoever. He was warning people that is all. By the way thanks for the info Criminal. The more and more stories I read lately, the more and more Im thinking about buying a Ford. Seems like their engineers and corporate big wigs arent in a big hurry to release products. jeverett 11-09-2004, 07:49 AM Hmm....whats a speed bump?? lol gschretter 11-09-2004, 09:41 AM I'm rubber and you are glue. What you say bounces of me and sticks to you. :lol2: Relax you take things a little to serious. Remember we are in the USA AND everybody has their right to free speech. :nono: Cuss words, why, they do not make your statement any stronger. Also why do people lower their trucks and put big wheels on them: To look like a race car  Get it. The people they are trying to look like make fun of them. I guess you have the air bag system and you slammed your truck into the weed with the 20" and drive around like you are some knight of the road. So what NASCAR number do you have on the back of your truck? No wait I got one better, What is the pee pee stickers guy peeing on? For FORD / CHEVY / DODGE / Toyota who cares they are all great. They are used to move pile A to location C from location B. Unless you lower it and put 20" wheels and then what do you do with the truck? Now for lowering. Get a old vega put a 350 in it and hit the track. TexasF355F1 11-09-2004, 11:44 AM I'm rubber and you are glue. Get a old vega put a 350 in it and hit the track. You are right, I did get a little overworked. I was in a pissed off mood at the time so I really need to learn not to be on AF when I'm like that. However, I just get annoyed when people say a truck is wasted if you lower it. How many people that lift trucks actually use them for off roading. There really arent that many. And even if they do, its not that often. I don't have an air suspension on my truck, i have a static 3/4 drop. Although I'd like to have bags. And yes I have 20's as well. I can still tow and haul crap. Have had my bed filled to the brim a lot of times. Especially when i worked for my dad. I dont drive a lowered truck b/c i want to look like a race car. I just like the look. But i also like the look of lifted trucks. That was actually what got me into the custom truck scene when i was 8 or 9. As far as Nascar, I hate Nascar. Anyone can drive in an oval. Formula 1 is far superior. And there are no stickers on my truck, except parking stickers. Those Calvin stickers are gay. And I feel you on the different brands of trucks. I know i'll probably buy a Ford one day and maybe a Toyota or Nissan if they keep being as innovative as they continue to be. Hopefully this will clear things up of what i was trying to say and bury the hatchet. kammouflage 11-09-2004, 12:28 PM No body gives a fuck what "racers" think of big rims and lowered trucks. I'm definately gonna have to agree with this guy... though i'm not a fan of imports, i do like the look of a lowered truck with big rims. most of the time those who are doing this aren't looking to race anyways. Pretty much it's all just a matter of opinion on how someone looks at something. So if you can't post your opinion w/o putting someone elses down, keep your shit to yourself. cs1 11-09-2004, 07:13 PM I gotta say that I like the looks of a properly lowered truck. I think that your truck is your own canvas to do what you feel is right for you. And Jesus, come on, we all know that half the people who buy trucks will never haul or tow anything anyways. Exactly! silveradoman 11-09-2004, 07:47 PM My girlfriend gave me that Calvin sticker.... :flipa: mentaldetektor 11-10-2004, 08:12 AM i want a calvin sticker pissing on a calvin sticker lol Nigel215 11-10-2004, 08:41 AM Its true, People can customize their trucks and have them still be trucks. As far as im considered, as long as it has that big open box in the back, its a truck. And yes, some of the things may not be functional with the use of the truck. I would love to put 20's on my truck, but im still not sure how it would affect the use of my truck (plus i need more money). Yes, I have clear tail lights and angel eye projector headlights nad a cat back exhause...but thats not because i want to look like a race car, It just looks cooler that stock, now some people might not agree. I mean, do old guys with big ass 2500 dualies and have big running boards, led's all down the sides, big visors over the windshield, huge bowtie mudflaps and a 5th wheel... do they want to look like a big rig? No matter who you are, if you use your truck for more than just "work" you have done something to your truck to make it stand out. (unless ur my dad who is just too cheap) TXAGG05 11-10-2004, 03:55 PM Are you talking about the new 1/2 ton crews? Also, in response to not fixing problems when you have aftermarket wheels....the aftermarket part must be the cause of your problem before your warranty can be voided. --------------------- As long as you don't try to tell me your truck is better because it's lifted or lowered then it doesn't bother me. To each his own. My own truck is completely about function, even my grille guard(for opening bump gates). My XM radio is my only add-on which isn't essential to the truck doing it's job. my :2cents: Jeb jeverett 11-11-2004, 08:28 AM My truck is the best!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
