My boot developed a tear in it near the wheel (94 Civic). I took a peice of rubber from a bicycle inner tube and wrapped it around the area and applied a hose clamp to it to keep debris out. 20,000 miles later the axle still is not making any noise.

That is how you do auto repairs down in the ghetto.

Just be careful. Even though you might think you have sealed it, the fine dust on the road will eventually build up enough and seize the joint. Not sure where you live, but it would suck if it were a blizzard and the CVJ decided it was time to lock up, then what. Thanks for posting your findings though!! :smokin:

oh yeah, i know it is not sealed, but it'll deflect anything big that could fly up there. eventually it will have to be fixed the right way.

i'm just shocked it has lasted as long as it has. I didn't have any expectation when i did it.

Not sure what you are saying snowman2005, your last few words are phrased strange. Are you saying last week they said that or it wouldn't last a week? ......but it doesn't hurt to try. Anything is better than nothing, right?
