backfireBiGwiLLswiLLy 11-02-2004, 09:47 PM prob is car backfires when cranking n wont start, almost like timing is 180 degrees off, but belt is lined up, car has spark n is gettin fuel, has good compression n holds it...jus replaced the cap rotor looks good also...any suggestions possinle ignitor? Figori 11-03-2004, 01:12 AM if it's 180 off, take off your distributor, and turn the pin 180 and place it back in. :D 87civicfranky 11-03-2004, 12:51 PM check out for any vacume leaks....could be that... to see if its that, have someone start it up...(if it does..) if its carb, with the cover off,put your hand over it.If it turns off, then its not a leak.If it accelerates it self, then try to find were its sucking from....if its f/i,then you have to take off the intake hose and cover the throtle body.see if it those the same as above.. just might be that..:) BiGwiLLswiLLy 11-04-2004, 12:06 AM honda only makes the distributer go on 1 way...n its F/I im leanin towards the pick-up, ill try that tmrw though Figori 11-04-2004, 03:49 AM actually.. The tab that inserts into the end of the camshaft can be rotated 180 degrees, if I'm not mistaken. I've just been working with my cam for the past 3 hours... 87civicfranky 11-04-2004, 10:50 AM it has a grove so that you dont put it off by 180 degrees... craig87crx 11-04-2004, 04:32 PM I know this seems like an obvious check, but are the wires in the proper order on the cap when you put it back on? Sounds like the firing order is messed up. BiGwiLLswiLLy 11-05-2004, 09:27 PM checked the wires like 4 times they r good...imthinkinthe distributer itself is bad...i pulledit offnwhenuspinit2 times before it goes al the way aroundit makes a noise almost like the bearing is bad... Figori 11-06-2004, 01:52 AM welp... Looks like the dizzy is bad.. Easy replacement. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
