turbo help... 2003 civic ex jdgoodwi 11-01-2004, 09:03 PM
Hey guys I'm new around here so if this has been discussed elsewhere, I apologize... I'm just really starting to get into cars right now, mainly because money is allowing me to. I know a lot, but nothing about turbos. I'm thinking about throwing a stafford fabrications turbo in my ride. I was wondering, what mods do I need to make before I can do this, and also what you guys would suggest I do? Also, how do civics usually handle a turbo...? I've heard they work pretty well, but if you could tell me about the wear on my tranny, engine etc it would be great. Basically, any info will be appreciated. BTW, right now I have an Evo2 exhaust, and AEM V2 intake, and that’s it. If I wind up doing this, I’ll probably swap the exhaust to a SP2. Thanks, Joe Greenblurr93 11-01-2004, 09:18 PM How much power are you looking to get and how much $$$$ do you have to spend... two big questions we need to know to help. jdgoodwi 11-01-2004, 09:29 PM when all is said and done i'd like my car to be in the range of 200-300hp? As for money, about $5500 to spend Greenblurr93 11-01-2004, 09:32 PM ok, re-sleeve ur block, try darton MID sleeves. may want to port/polish ur head. Def. a fuel management, injectors, possibly a fuel pump, and obviously a turbo kit (bought as one, or pieced together) jdgoodwi 11-01-2004, 09:41 PM thanks... anything else? Greenblurr93 11-01-2004, 09:46 PM umm, well, if u want u can do what im doin and build a b18 race motor.... but its about double ur price range (and thats without the turbo). lol, i think your best bet is to start with the basics and work up from there, you have a great starting platform, start with a kit. dyno it, if its not enough then start with engine internals so ur block can handle more boost, upgrade the fuel system so u dont choke ur motor, dyno it, if thats not enough.... well u get the idea. jdgoodwi 11-01-2004, 10:01 PM cool, thanks man civickiller 11-02-2004, 04:55 PM dude you telling him to do way too much things to his motor. just get new rods and pistons, get a turbo kit, get a hondata. keep turning up boost till you get to the hp you want, thats only for something under 300hp Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
