Hi everyone, what a great site! I just recently purchased 97 Pathfinder with 106K miles. I like it well except that it seems to missfire or lack of power @ 4000 RPM. I have replaced the air filter, plugs, fuel filter, wires, cap, and rotor. It seems to be intermittent, meaning sometimes it runs up to 5K w/no problems, other times it stutters @ 4K and above. I was thinking it may be OS sensors or perhaps fuel pump issue. Haven't had into Nissan yet. Idle is smooth and starts well all the time. No power issues below 4K RRM. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have not found out much here. I am still having the problem, with no resolution yet. I took it to a specialty Nissan shop they checked all the codes with none reported. They thought it might be the Mass Airfow Sensor. Did some additional research on that and found this is primarily a low RPM monitoring device. I really wish I could get this problem resolved. It kind of spoils the fun I could have with this vehicle. I still think it might be the O2 sensors but the mechanic thought it would report an error code on the computer???

Anyone else have any ideas?

Here are some other messages I received from another board. Still nothing and my problem persists.

Finally got an check engine light after a short drive with the pathy missing. Took to shop to read code and it was a misfire code. The shop said to replace the distributor because pathfinders have optical dist and they are known to have problems. Got a rebuilt one at O'reillys for $295. Replace myself and retimed. Pathy runs great now with no missing out problem. Hope this helps.
