Ok so what do we rip the streets or cruise the highways in? I currently rattle around in a Toyota Camry Prominent (2.5 V6, do you have those in US?),also I have a 94' Mitsi Lancer MX Extra, 1.5, both autos :)

in the US, i think we have the Camry V-6 3.0 liter. but most of the camry's are stupid 4 cylinders! i hate them! but i think the V6 version is pretty good ;)

I've got a couple rides myself. My daily driver to and from work is an old, beat-up (but still running very well) 1985 Mercury Marquis. My other car is just about a polar opposite. It is a 1994 Integra, slammed with a Jackson Racing supercharger, AEM Cold-Air Intake, DC Sports 4-1 stainless steel headers, Mugen twin-loop exhaust, as well as Powerstop cross-drilled brake rotors and Metal Matrix pads on the front wheels and Auto Meter boost and air/fuel ration gauges.

Yeah, I think the US only gets the so-called Euro - Toyotas, ie the 2.2l 16v 4 cylinder and a 3.0V6, those are crap, especially the 2.2 with an auto box, a mobility scooter can overtake that I bet. It's a well known fact though that Japan keeps its best for the domestic market, and here in New Zealand we get them as second hand imports, so we've got the Camry 1.8 4cyl, 2.0 4cyl, 2.0 4WS, 2.0Diesel, and top of the line Camry Prominent 2.5V6, any of these would easily beat the Euro ones in equipment and engine performance, For example even the 1990 2.0 Camry has climate air standard, and the Prominent V6 has CD/MD, sattelite navigation etc,:D i think its gonna be another 10 or more years before the euro models catch up to that level :(

I'm with you, there is nothing like boost building in your engine from forced induction. I think it feels so sweet compared to anything naturally aspirated from what I've felt. The power delivery just feels smoother to me.

1989 Lincoln Towncars, hey im 17, i cant afford any more(ok yes i can but i need money for colege). If I can get a deal, i might put compression up to 12:1(yes im crazy) and maybe a nice twin-screw super charger at 9 psi or so. That will give me about 538 horsepower(I love equations). I've got a couple questions to ask some of you guys, like MrCorvetteZ06...Dude, that is one hell of a car...My god man. That's pretty amazing! Exactly how well does it handle, and how comfortable is it?

And Mr2Turb, how do you like your MR2 Turbo? I've been in the market for either a 1st gen SC or a 2nd gen Turbo. The Turbo is out of my price range for right now, but I hope to get one in the near future.

And you 951 guys, what about your car, are you happy with it?

One of my cars is a 1971 Dodge Challenger hardtop with the 318 2-bbl... nothing special, just a base model. When I got it, the car was a total basketcase, but I'm pretty far along now and have all the parts (including, yes, a 440 V-8) to turn it into an R/T clone. Also, I have a white 1995 Acura Integra GS-R coupe for a daily driver.

Wow, where do you 17 year old guys get all your money?

I'm 16 and I drive a '91 Escort LX 5 speed. I've removed the airbox silencer for an 8 hp boost. I'm now runnin' a smokin' 96 hp. Goes even faster on a cold day. Had to replace the tranny, so I decided to take advantage of this and snatch up a GT (different geared) tranny. I've noticed a slight acceleration increase but a huge top speed increase. Crappy as it may be, it's my car and I love it.

PS. Can you guys tell me your money making secrets so I can get a Porsche too? :)

To be honest you get what you pay for. I love my Neon to death and have put alot of work into it, but it is by no means the quality you get with a more expensive car. They have their problems...some electrical and sometimes the PCM goes, mostly 96 model year and older...mine's a 97. My Neon has been pretty good for the most part...even survived a 40 mph front end collision. I get it serviced religiously and when a problem does come up get it fixed ASAP so that other crap doesnt go wrong with it. It also has its creaks and rattles, but it is 4 years old, lowered, and has a big stereo system which has some effect on that. The one huge downfall sadly, is the resale value. Let's just say my wheels are worth more than the car now:eek:

gang$tarr

KatWoman
11-07-2001, 09:03 PM
Mine's done ok for the most part...but if you don't take care of it, it will go to shit sooner than a maintained Neon. If I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now I would go get a Volkswagen...preferably the newest one but it will be awhile before I can afford brand new again.

A 40mph collision and the didnt total the car? Thats sounds pretty unbelievable. How in the world did the frame stay straight after something that fast. Either you were sitting still with the car in nuetral and somebody hit you or you ran into something that broke away. If your car stopped going from 40-0 without getting launched (transfer of energy) the car must be made out of titanium.

I made a left turn into a small pickup...his back tire ran over my bumper and also crumpled the hood and fenders. I was turning into a drive way going about 5 and he was going 35. The very front end took most of the damage. The only major mechanincal damage was the ac and radiator. The tranny, suspension, and motor were fine. The frame was fine too. Airbags did not deploy. I know it sounds unbelieveable but I think the Man upstairs was lookin out for me.

The damage looks alot nastier than it is. As crumpled up as the bumper got (the actual metal bumper) it did not hit my airbag sensors...that is why they didn't go off.

Nice!!

Yep, I've got the GPX one. I love the wing on the GP Version R. I'm going to get one eventually for mine. The Version Rs are really rare over here so I figured the only differences being the LSD, the wing and about 70kg, I'd just go for the GPX (that was hard enough to find as it was!!!)

Yeh, they are pretty loud (very quiet unmodified though!). Mine's even louder since I added the pod. I've always got the windows down so I can listen to the engine! Sad really!! :) :p

I'm thinking to buy a new Civic Type R and put it on my dads name. But that's not a realistic option. My dad is about to replace his accord, so i'm try to convince him to buy a hot sedan and not some Zafira mpv.... but anyway, I hope to get my license as soon as possible

Well I learned to drive in a Ford Escort SW. My first car was (still is) a Daewoo Lanos 1.5L that my brother lend it to me when he left to USA in 1999, now he lives there and he owns an Isuzu Rodeo I remeber when he bought the car, I hated any korean cars and didnt want to get that car, but he did anywise, I only liked the styling, after some few years my love for the car has been growing and growing, I just canīt get rid of it! So I got an used 2000 Focus with only 12000km and itīs fun to drive too. That was a hard choice. I would have bought a Peugeot 306 (but it is too old styled), or a Mitsubishi Lancer (my cousin has one and it seems very good built), or a Honda Civic. I considered the Chrysler Neon too. Anywise the Focus is a fine, nice to drive vehicle, but i love the new 307 from Peugeot, itīs quality is like in BMW, has a very large standard equipment; side airbags, on board computer, etc. Thatīs gonna be my next car as soon I get an interesting deal to sell the Focus! But wont get rid of the Daewoo so easily:rolleyes:
Im I crazy? :bloated:

Well I just traded up before Christmas from a pretty highly tuned Nissan Skyline GTS-t to my new one. A rare and beautiful 1992 Nissan Skyline GTR. I dont have many pics yet but will post them as soon as I do get some.
The other one is a mate of mine but his is a respray from Red. Still a pretty tidy car and is over the 400 bhp mark easy.

Well you can scratch the two Daytonas off that list. The 1994 I recently sold, but the 84 kicked the bucket. I have been letting a friend drive it in Colorado and the tranny bands are slipping too much to tighten. He wants to replace the tranny but it is more than the car is worth.

Ok so what do we rip the streets or cruise the highways in? I currently rattle around in a Toyota Camry Prominent (2.5 V6, do you have those in US?),also I have a 94' Mitsi Lancer MX Extra, 1.5, both autos :)
THE CAMRY PROMINENT IS THE LEXUS ES250. IT WAS ORIGINALLY CAMRY PROMINENT BUT TOYOTA CREATED THE LEXUS AND PLACED IT AS THE ES 250. IT IS A LUXURY CAR AND WAY A HEAD OF THE cAMRY.
