I have an imported from Japan 1997 Terrano R3m-R that is the same as an American Pathfinder.

I seem to have a problem with the Air Con insofar as when I press in the dashboard switch, the engine tickover increases, but the switch light doesn't come on.

I can't get to the lamp to check it, is there any way to remove it ?

Because of the outside temperatures, I can't check if it is in fact cooling the air.

Are there any tests I can carry out to check the operation ?
