I have a question about getting an overhead console for my jeep. I have a 1998 jeep cherokee sport, 4-door, 4wd. The overhead is nothing but lights directly over the center console. I wanted to know if the overhead consoles found in the Jeep Cherokee Classic and Limited models, which have the digital readout, the garage door opener holder, and the sunglass holder, from around the same year as my 1998 are compatible with my jeep. If i had it installed on my jeep, will it fit and will the digital reader from the console work, or is it not compatiable at all. I asked the dealer about it, and all he told me was to go to a junkyard and see if they have any for the dealer charges over $1,000.
All i want to really know if the console would work with my Sport model.

Yes, I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport, and it came factory installed with the trip computer and overhead consoles. All of the equipment you are asking about will fit and work.
