I have a 1990 Ram 250 van with a 3.9 liter v6. My #1 connecting
rod bearing is starting to get really loud. What's the best way to get
the engine out of the vehicle to rebuild it?

There are two ways to remove the engine from a dodge van.

One way os to remove the passanger seat, and bring the engine up through the floor and out the pass door. You need to seperate the engine and trans, and remove all of the accessories on the front of the engine. It's not fun.

The other way, and the easiest way is to remove the grill, the radiator, and rad support. unbolt the trans, disconnect all the hoses lines and wires going to the engine, remove the intake manifold, and put your engine hoist in through the front of the van, putting the hoist arm in the cam valley between the heads, and bolt the hoist arm and chain to the heads.

Undo the motor mounts, raise the engine slightly, remove the oil pan, and oil sump. Then carefully remove the engine through the front of the van.

Email me if you have any questions.
