Fabricating covers for the inner taillights..Vtec95Civic 10-29-2004, 11:54 PM Ok, I have altezza lights on my 95 civic coupe (I know, I know! What was I thinking?).. anyways.. they are the ones that have the reverse lights inside a red ring.. Now, the red ring around the reverse light doesn't light up anyways, so it's basically useless to have. I was wondering if it's possible to make body colored covers so only the reverse light shows (Sorta like the Lexus IS300 tail lights, except with the reverse lights).. Any ideas? These are the ones I'm talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33716&item=7930645167&rd=1 lkailburn 10-30-2004, 03:35 AM i would CAREFULLY melt the silicon seal, open them up and paint the chrome to match your car. i always wanted to do thta just to see what it would look like. but if you want a cover to go over.. just fabricate it yourself. make it out of woven glass cloth. if you need directions on that i could help you out there too. -Luke Vtec95Civic 10-30-2004, 02:17 PM Yeah I want the cover to go over.. painting the chrome would still give it a flush look. Wasn't sure what to make it out of or how to do it. lkailburn 10-30-2004, 04:03 PM ya fiberglass cloth will work the best Vtec95Civic 10-30-2004, 04:31 PM How do I paint it afterwards? Simple spray paint? Or do I have to do primer and clear coat, etc.. JayHill55 11-02-2004, 11:50 PM I have the same lights on my 95 civic, and I did the same thing you're talking about. What I did was when i got my car painted, the guy took the lid of a spray paint can and masked off so just the clear part of the reverse light shows. I know its not as cool as having actual lexus tail lights but i think it looks cool and thats all that matters. Ill try to show you some pics. just make sure theres no red showing. lkailburn 11-03-2004, 03:13 PM you'll have to sand, bondo, primer, paint, clear coat the covers vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
