hey every one. i have a bmw 325is 94 lately it was very hard to start every once in a while i would have to crank for a long time for it to start. finaly one morning i came out try to start and there was nothing. There is no spark and no fuel coming to the rail. i checked the fuel pump by conecting it to the battery pump runs very good pumps gass through well. but it will not turn on when try to crank it. it turns over/cranks but no start. Now, i tryed cross the fuel pump relay i think it was like port 30 and 37 or 67 or what ever and the pump then turns on. i opened up the fuel pump relay and it looks good inside nothing seems wrong with it at all. So i do not know what it can be. i hear every one is saying the MAIN RELAY i called the dealer to see if they have the main relay and they don't even know what it is!!! where is it located how does it look part number any body??? is there an official name for it besides MAIN RELAY. Pictures would be very nice. help any body please.

thank you
pavel

I had a similar problem with my '94 325 and it turned out to be a bad battery. The only other strange thing was that after trying to start the car the hazards would turn on -it turns out this is some sort of built-in indicator of a weak battery. I would not have suspected it since it appeared to be turning over strong enough. I only figured it out when after trying to start it for a while I decided to put a charger on it to keep from draining the battery. Suddenly it started right up so I checked out the battery and sure enough I had a couple of bad cells.

This may not be your problem but it's worth a try.

yes i think all the coil packs are good. i do not know how to check them. i don't think that's it because the fuel delivery is also affected.
