want something new for my civicridestreet84 10-26-2004, 04:29 PM i wanna do something new for my 99 civic ex 2 door its already lowered with skunk2 coilovers and greddy exhaust and 17inch konig holes im thinking b16a2 with a vortech supercharger dont really want to go over 5 grand any ideas Beastiek2 10-26-2004, 04:53 PM B16B  But yes your on the right track at least. Swapping a B16a2 is a great idea, and throwing a supercharger or turbo ontop is an even better idea. Jackson racing, Rev Hard, Vortech all good names. Better start saving !! Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 05:04 PM Put the 5k in savings and get a K20A when you get the rest of the money together. Beastiek2 10-26-2004, 05:12 PM ^^^ RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTT 10 grand buy a new car cause thats a nice down payment on an EVO. Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 05:24 PM ^^^ RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTT 10 grand buy a new car cause thats a nice down payment on an EVO. K20 hatch with stock internals Vs. Evo 8 Right Click, Save As http://www.hybrid-racing.com/images/gallery/videos/Shorty1.1.wmv Beastiek2 10-26-2004, 05:42 PM Cant view it at work but I am sure I saw it.. I have 9 sec civic videos we all kno its possible to be fast but its a waste of money..K20 will come down in price just like b series engines. But coming across a K is hard plus the parts needed to do the swap are just too many. A friend of mine had it on his 01 civic boosted and blew the head. 14 grand he spent on that engine. But overall you cant compare and EVO to a civic. ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 05:52 PM i have thought about the b16b it is a great engine and very high revving which is also very good i have not thought about the k20 mostly due to not knowing where to find motor mounts for a 99 ex plus there is still very few aftermarket go fast parts plus lots of custom work im thinking custom axles and shift linkage which i have not seen anywhere nor have a have heard it being done to a older civic yet i dont want to lose my power steering and my air conditioning due to harsh north dakota winters and we all know snow and no power steering is bad Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 06:27 PM i have thought about the b16b it is a great engine and very high revving which is also very good i have not thought about the k20 mostly due to not knowing where to find motor mounts for a 99 ex plus there is still very few aftermarket go fast parts plus lots of custom work im thinking custom axles and shift linkage which i have not seen anywhere nor have a have heard it being done to a older civic yet i dont want to lose my power steering and my air conditioning due to harsh north dakota winters and we all know snow and no power steering is bad HASport makes an entire mount kit and everything needed for K20 swap into an EK.... hmotorsonline is selling the swaps going for 5,500 Aftermarket for the K20 is still developing... but companies are leaving the B-series behind and developing almost entirely for the K20 now.... Here's a good quote "K... It's the NEW B" It's what I'll be getting after I'm tired with/ bored of my d-series. MexSiR 10-26-2004, 06:30 PM Yeah, a b16a2 with a vortech supercharger will put your car in the low 13s if you know how to drive and 4.5s in 0-60 mph acceleration. Be prepared for porsche carrera and bmw m3 competition. ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 06:48 PM Be prepared for porsche carrera and bmw m3 competition. I welcome M3 and porsche challenges i think it would be a lot of fun againg i feel that with the k20 i would lose my valueable power steerimg which sucks due to me only having my civic right now due to all the money i have going into it and i dont have a chance to buy a winter car for the north dakota winters ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 07:01 PM plus how well would the k20 mount being that the exhaust manifold is on the back of the engine i do believe but dont quote me on that i have had very little experience with the new k series engine and would the 6 speed tranny pose a problem? Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 07:01 PM i feel that with the k20 i would lose my valueable power steerimg Power steering sucks anyways.. just a power robber ;)... I'm rollin' on 17x7's with no power steering :iceslolan ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 07:06 PM power steering yes does rob valueable power i can understand it not being needed where it is warm but up here in north dakota winters suck and its a 20 mile drive into town with a 30mph crosswind trying to blow the car off the icy winter road thats were it comes in handy Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 07:12 PM I have a 98 EX with power steering, and my 97 DX without.... the EX feels wobbly on the road... where as my DX without power steering feels much more stable... as have all cars I've owned without power steering. Have you ever driven without it? I believe my car without it handles better under all conditions than my car with... unless you're sitting in a parking lot... no power steering at a stand still does kind of suck... but it's a good work out ;) builds ya muscles. ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 07:33 PM yes i have driven a car without powersteering it was a 69 mustang yes i was a muscle head until i was struken by the import god and have yet to go back i will agree with u with the stand still sucking but i have never driven a car with now power steering in winter condititons Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 07:42 PM i have never driven a car with now power steering in winter condititons I don't know about winter conditions... but I have hella fun in wet weather conditions... thunderstorms and such :bigthumb: \ We don't get much winter in Texas... but we've gotten alot of wet weather this year! ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 07:52 PM Sir you may have me sold on this k20 engine but the last bit is do you know of any pics or any sites that have a pic of the 99 body still with that engine in it mostly due to what ever engine i put in it im going to do it myself Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 08:09 PM Sir you may have me sold on this k20 engine but the last bit is do you know of any pics or any sites that have a pic of the 99 body still with that engine in it mostly due to what ever engine i put in it im going to do it myself I know there are a few people on HondaTech with K20 EK hatches... but I'm at a loss to remember having seen any. Maybe HASport has some links on their website.. might try them. search on HondaTech also... I'll have to see what I can find though Oh wait... I know... well, not pictures... but a 'complete' how-to .. if you're wanting to do it yourself K20 into EK (1996-2000) Chassis (http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=26783) Killa_CRX 10-26-2004, 08:20 PM exman98 10-26-2004, 08:35 PM does any one have specs on the b16a2 vs. k20 both stock Im sure either one you would be looking at about $5,000 after its all said and done ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 08:35 PM thats oh so pretty :iceslolan ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 08:38 PM on hmotorsonline the have both the k20 and the b16 the k20 swap is 5500 not including the axles and mounts but you can do a b18c5 type r swap for 4500 with out the mounts if im spending 5k im going b18c5 sorry all MexSiR 10-26-2004, 08:58 PM A B16A2 ranges from 2500-4000 its not as expensive as 5000 common! B18C5 is a freakin awesome engine though. Beastiek2 10-26-2004, 09:20 PM i loveeeeeeeee that engine! ridestreet84 10-26-2004, 09:25 PM im just trying to do something uncommon in my far north area in north dakota damn i hate it up here vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
