full size or temporary spare?

I had a flat tire on my Venture, and had AAA change it. When the tow guy put on the temporary spare, he told me it didn't appear to be that good of a shape. Well, he was right, as I was within 1/10 mile from my home that tire too went flat. Upon further inspection, I noticed the rim was bent. Now I have a question concerning replacing this temporary spare. Will a full sized spare tire fit underneath my vehicle where the temporary spare now fits? I'd rather replace the temp/ with a full sized tire and rim if it will fit. I've asked a number of local dealers and auto salvage yards this question, and although they said it was a good question, not one person could answer it. Has anybody else come across this situation, or replaced their temporary spare with a full sized one under the vehicle? I really can't fit a full sized one in the back, as I use the van quite a bit for hauling items and need the space. Thank you.

I had the smae problem with my 01 , and a regular tire would fit as long as the bracket that holds the spare is long enough , If not you can go to any auto shop and they can replace the wire harness that holds the spare with one that will hold a regular size tire.

I was promised by the dealer to have a full sized spare in the back of my '97 but it turned out to be a temp spare.
