1998 Mazda 626 (Need Advice.. Thx U) djxzotic171 10-25-2004, 11:19 PM
First off I need to give share some specific details: -My car feels like riding a horse two months ago.. Added lucas fuel injector.. Problem solved.. -2 months later the same jumping happened. Added lucas again and didnt clear away the problem -Car starts off perfectly if lets sitting alone for a few hours.. then after like 20-40 minutes its starts galloping like a horse. - Spark plugs, wires, coil replaced and still same problem - Question is "Who has heard or had the same problems occur with a 1998 Mazda 626?" Would gladly appreciate any advice to help me clear the problem.. Can it be the Fuel lines or anythin close to that.. Thank U djxzotic171 10-25-2004, 11:34 PM and by the way the Mazda 626 is of Manual Transmission.. 98'626puzzled 10-26-2004, 10:30 PM I don't know what the problem is, I have the same problem. Also, with a 1998 mazda 626 2.0 4 cyl. I have replaced plugs, wires, and coil pack as well. I did find that I had an intake gasket blown. Fixed that and it ran great for a few days and now runs worse than ever. It runs rough, spits and sputters on acceleration, you can stomp it and it will spit and sputter the check engine light will flash and then it will pick up and run out fine for a bit. Then the same thing. Will not hardly run with the a/c on. I am thinking of changing the timing belt. Maybe it has jumped time or something. They reccomend changing timing belt at 100,000 anyway and I have 92,000. So it won't be a waste anyway. If you figure out what your problem is please post and if I figure it out I will definitely let you know!!! By the way mine is an automatic. If anyone else out there has any advice I know I could use it. Otherwise I am going to take it out in the middle of a big field and sell tickets to watch and see what three sticks of dynamite will do for it. LOL djxzotic171 10-27-2004, 05:02 PM Thanks for the advice... So yea.. The wires changed (Made no difference) Coil changed (Made no difference) sparks plugged for 44 and made it seem quite more powerful (Still didnt fix the hopping).. When i changed the spark plugs WOW the tips were completely full of carbon deposit.. (and those spark plugs were only in my car for about 6 months. Should it be that bad) To get more into detail about the problem.. If i leave it in idle and rev up the gas between 3000-5000 rpm the indicator starts flipping back in forth and the car makes this coughing noise.. So no matter if im in neutral or 1st gear the car acts up.. Second a friend of my dads is a good mechanic and just recently told him about how the car reacts and he said it sounds like the fuel pump.. Any more advice would gladly be accepted martin626 11-30-2004, 04:40 PM From what you guys said, it seemed to me that I had a similar problem. I also have a 98 mazda 626 4cyl. The car was sort of galloping or jerking forward when I put it in gear. It also sort of sputtered when i stomped on it and it was just terrible plus the check engine light was on. Then it started to do it when it I was sitting in idle and reving it up. I went to my local mechanic (a dude certified by mitsibishi to be a master mechanic) and he told me that it was the clutch and the timing belt. When I gave him the car to replace the clutch and timing belt, he told me that my drive belts were in pretty bad shape and my water pump was leaking and barely working. After I replaced the clutch, timingbelt, all the drive belts and the water pump, the car has not had that problem since. I got that done about 2 or 3 months ago. It drives like a chemp. Also make sure that you have no dirt or water around your spark plugs. I hope this helps. martin626 Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
