2002 Pathfinder or 2004 TrailblazerThe Black Pearl 10-24-2004, 10:33 PM I am in quite a dilemma in deciding which SUV to purchase. I have read allot of posts on the Trailblazer which the majority were negative and asked a few TB owners which were positive. I would like an SUV with 7 passenger seating instead of a mini van (death before mini van) and I like the Trailblazer looks, however I would loose the 7 passenger requirement if the TB is not worth looking at. I already excluded the Ford Explorer since my cousin who works closely with them calls them the Ford Exploder. My 93 Nissan Maxima has 227,000km on it and it runs better than some two year old cars I have been in, but it can't tow 5,000lbs and its getting old. The service from the Nissan dealer I go to is great, but expensive so the Pathfinder also has some negatives. I was told by a local general mechanic to pick the trailblazer since it is very inexpensive to work with, especially the 4 wheel drive system. The TB extended warranty is $5000 compared to the $1600 Pathfinder. I can not pick one. My wife drives a 2002 Mazda and does not care what I buy as long as I do not take her car when mine dies. Any feedback welcomed. polynet 11-08-2004, 09:41 PM I was stuck between the two back in May... I took one weekend out and tried the three vehicles that I was considering... Explorer, TrailBlazer and Pathfinder. The Explorer impressed me because I had little expectations to like it but it was not good enough, The trailblazer was nice and I wanted American but it didn't handle as well as the Pathfinder AND the seat & seatbelts annoyed me. I ended up getting a 2002 Pathfinder SE and have NO regrets. It is my second one and the old one (1988SE) was "sold" at 187k with the engine running great, the body had a little too much rust but it grew up in upstate NY with tons of salt. If you are in need with the extra seating, I believe the 2005 has a thrid row or try the Armada... either way the Pathfinder outperforms the Trailblazer hands down. kalidor97 11-10-2004, 08:05 PM Pathfinder by far, absolutely love mine. Perfect size if you have fewer than 2 kids. clintryplug 11-10-2004, 09:58 PM I just bought a low miles '97 back in July because we got pregnant with our second child (replacing a Camry). Well turns out they're twins. Oh well, we have a Toyota Seinna mini van as well so we'll be able to make do....wish we could afford an Armada, some day I will go straight for the Titan! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
