Advice on 1g bovs. Which one is the best???StimpsTSI 10-23-2004, 09:30 PM I have a 90 tsi that im looking at getting an aftermarket bov for. I know the 1g is a good bov, but i want the sound of an aftermarket one. Does the 1g bov sound good vented to the atmosphere? Is it even possible? If it is then how loud is it? Also if i go with an aftermarket bov, which one gives me the best sound, quality, and works on the dsm the best. I am thinking about an Apexi Twin chamber bov. Anyone that has one please let me know what you think of it. The other two I am considering are the Greddy type s and the Turbo xs type rfl. Please let me know what you guys think is the best out of all these? I need some advice fast. Thanks alot. kjewer1 10-23-2004, 10:44 PM Dont bother venting to atmosphere unless you run a speed density system (MAP, MAFt, etc). Yes, I did it for years but I had all kinds of shit rigged up and it still was a pain in the ass. If you try any of them, do the RFL. It stays shut under idle vacuum anyway (use all of the preload washers they give you). But it is a POS in itself. The Oring seals are junk, they dry up and crack after a few months. Its a POS. But it is EXTREMLY LOUD, and a whole shitload of fun... I miss those days. My tial isnt exactly quiet, but the RFL is sick. Too bad the diameter of the inlet is half the size of my junk. My turbo would never respool with one. Long story short, my recomendation is to stick with the 1G and spend the money elsewhere. If its really important to you, which is fine, I would wait until you go to a MAFt or something. Which isnt a bad thing, the 1G MASs suck bigtime anyway. 2Gs are a different story. EclipsNgirl 10-24-2004, 01:50 AM I have the HKS SSQV and love it. It's loud and gets the looks when I'm going down the street. :iceslolan Hpnotiq86 10-24-2004, 01:34 PM Isnt the SSQ bov the one where it goes "whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh" rapidly after spool up? I should know this but im not 100% and I get things mixed up every now and then. JoeWagon 10-24-2004, 02:37 PM Each one sounds a bit differently, none of which you can describe online using terms like 'woosh'. I have a feeling you are referring to Smithy's dyno video... in that case you could search for his mod list and find out. MAFt is the cheapest way to be able to vent, and it's about $200 for the translator, and under $50 for a GM MAF. Add a $200 dollar BOV and you're looking at an expensive upgrade for the sound. But, do however you like. StimpsTSI 10-24-2004, 08:49 PM What about the apxi twin chamber though? I can get one already flanged real real cheap, so is it a good bov for the dsm? If its not then ill stick to the 1g. Thanks for the help everyone. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
