I have a 97 Lumina that I just got and tried to get inspected in nj.
All the emission related codes have been repaired and cleared. The only one that keeps coming back is the P1870 code which relates to the trans. I seems to shift ok would appreciate help in solving this problem

Diagnostic code 1870, trans component slipping with no apparent problem, is usually caused by a worn tcc regulator valve bore. This bore can be repaired with a a kit which will restore the valve body's hydraulic integrity. This procedure doesn't necessarily require transmission removal.

Gee,thanks for the info. I'm going to a chevy dealer and try to get the kit. The service station where I took the car for inspection says that I needed a transmission.

I went to my chevy dealer today and asked about this kit. He didn't know what I was talking about. Do you know where you can get this kit.
Thanks

This is WAY overdue, but I inadvertantly came across this on the internet today: http://www.thesurecure.com/parts/parts/SC-4T60-E.htm
I haven't heard any real testimony to this product, but if it's not expensive and you think you'd be up to the task it may be worth a try
