Engine life ESiPhat Ride 10-20-2004, 06:59 PM I'm looking at buying a Talon ESI but it has 222000KM (NOT MILES) Is it okay as long as its been taken care of? I can get it for a killer deal but I wanna know if the engine is going to last. Anyone have one with that many km's? i think thats about 125000Miles drdisque 10-20-2004, 07:43 PM has the trans been replaced? if not I don't give it much longer, especially if its an automatic. Phat Ride 10-20-2004, 09:35 PM haha naw man its not an auto, no offenece to those that has one... but i wouldn't drive an automatic... not as much fun. But thats for the input 1stGenRocks 10-20-2004, 09:41 PM if its been taken care of it should be fine. try and get some service records on it. Phat Ride 10-20-2004, 10:38 PM yeah thats the thing... its been garaged its on the first owner with all the maintanience records. A girl drove it so she did everything the dealership asked 1stGenRocks 10-21-2004, 07:43 PM then you should be good for awhile as long as you keep doing the maintence. edit: even though this sounds like a good esi. make sure that you arent going to come back in a week whining aboput getting beat by a honda. if you want a fast car an esi is not the best base to start with. if you just want something kinda quick that looks cool go for it. Phat Ride 10-21-2004, 07:52 PM Did I say anything about speed? or trying to beat a honda? No I don't... Stick to the question buddy... and leave the performance up to me. 1stGenRocks 10-21-2004, 08:06 PM no prob. i didnt know what you plans for the car were. just trying to avoid another person coming asking how to make their rs/gs/esi faster. Phat Ride 11-25-2004, 06:00 PM It turned out to be a pretty good car. It needed a rear wheel bearing and a windshield but other then that its a nice little car. Give it some rims and maybe run alittle boost through it and it will be a nice little car. If anyone is selling 17" rims let me know. skyllz 11-28-2004, 12:35 PM my RS engine blew the headgasket at 80000 miles its an auto. tranny still shifts good though. Phat Ride 11-29-2004, 09:48 PM Either the guy before you didn't take care of it or you got a lemon mobile.... I'm just worried about the bottom end... but i've heard the 420A is a pretty strong motor... Yeah mines a 5spd and its fine.... The only thing wrong with the motors is that it has noisy lifters when u first start it up on a really cold day, but that doesn't bother me at all. skyllz 11-30-2004, 01:02 PM Either the guy before you didn't take care of it or you got a lemon mobile.... They say its all good even if it isn't. Burning oil at only 80, 000 miles. I got the car and it was at 77k miles. I don't even take the RPMs over 3-4k... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
