Anyone know if its possible to swap a 4.8 to a 5.3 without a headache?ncyukon28 10-20-2004, 03:00 PM I just recently bought a 2002 4x4 yukon which was a heck of a deal even though it had a 4.8. I love everything about the Yukon besides this sluggish 4.8 which in my opinion runs like a v-6. I am thinking about getting a 5.3 off ebay and wondering if its just a simple swap of the blocks or what? I dont know if this will be worth the money to do this so does anyone else have any other ways to juice up this 4.8? Thanks! ncyukon28 10-20-2004, 03:10 PM PS...I have already tried the the cold air intakes and changing the muffler. Just a v8 with a v6 heart. KRS62 10-21-2004, 10:44 AM Have you thought about a supercharger? KRS ncyukon28 10-21-2004, 01:51 PM Yes I have ponder the idea of a supercharger but the memory of back in the days of my friend adding a paxton to his 98 Z-71 which locked up his engine only two weeks later often dismisses the idea. I would only feel confrontable if I bought a engine that was truly designed for adding a super charger. I am really thinking about just changing the gears in my ride...I wonder what the factory gears and what I should go to? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
