If it has a 2.5 then it's not an original motor. The 2.2 normally aspirated and turbo were the only options for 93. HP on a 93 2.2 is 130 or 135 depending on where you look. I have a 93 with the non-turbo 2.2L/AWD/5sp. It is OK but by no means a screamer. It is a blast to drive in the winter though. It's been pretty reliable. I haven't had to do many repairs. Mostly wear items like struts/brakes/clutch. It's got 210K on it and it still runs great. If you need a low maintainence car that gets around great in the snow then I can't think of a better car. As for mods the suspension mods are sort of limited. I have a set of H&R springs with some KYB struts and it handles pretty well. Most of the motor mods available for the Imprezza/WRX are not available for the 2.2L. Though there are places like Cobb Tuning and others that can build up a nice non-turbo motor.
