I'm going to buy a set of poly tension rod bushings for my s13 and I've run into a decision that I need help with. Whiteline($50), Energy Suspension($40), or Nismo($60). Do each of these have a different degree of strength, or are all poly bushings the same. I've noticed that the whiteline bushings come with a metal center piece and grease, but I have no idea what the others come with.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if there is much of a difference, but I would go with Energy Suspension. They have been around forever and specialize in poly bushings. I have an energy suspension complete master bushing set on my civic and it helped a lot, and they weren't too hard to install, just time consuming. The next best would probably be Nismo just because they specialize in Nissan. :2cents:

Nismo Is Hard Rubber Not Poly-urethane....

Energy Suspensions Is A Well Known Product Manufacturer With Great Results...

Whiteline Is Also A Well Known Manufacturer Form Rally Parts In Australia Who Also Sells Great Products....

The Choice Is Yours But For The Money I Would Choose Energy Suspensions Because They Have Been Around Longer, Have A Longer Success History, And Are American Made With A Lower Price.

Would hard rubber be a better ride then polyurthane, I mean it's softer isn't it?

dont get polyurethane bushings for your tension rods.they'll cause your control arms to crack.just go the extra mile and get yourself some new TC rods with spherical bearings like the ones SPLParts make or Kazama.Sure they cost more but the wont cause your control arms to crack.

I would rather pay a bit more for aftermarket tension rods as well, they cost more because it is quality and I am sure will perform better than modified stock once wich were designed for cruising and not racing.

they don't break because you are using stiff tension bushings they break because you don't match them with stiff control arm bushings.

I broke 3 already, (all tiens) if u like to go side ways u need them,. The stock one is not totally crap. (it hold son, but it is old!) it causes the steering wheel to shack like creasy as ur Turing hard or drifting. The teins feel allot better. Not as much shaking plus quicker reaction on part of the steering.
btw I brook 3 because I hit thing, mail boxes , side walks, walls ..etc.

yeah in the drift tengoku video it showed an S14 going into a corner and the front of the wheel was shaking a good 3 inches.

IMO it helps handling

No one answered my question, what gives you a more comfy ruide, hard rubber or polyurethane?

Softer = More Comfy... Hard Rubber

But polyurethane is like hard plastic moron, I'm wondering if the rubber is better...nevermind...

I'm not sure, but I think polyurethane is stiffer and has a harsher ride quality. Hard rubber is old school and still wears out. I'd imagine that the hard rubber is more comfy. Polyurethane is better though, and that I know. It never wears out.

There Right The Nismos Would Be More Comfortable But They Are The Most Expensive.....

The Poly-bushings Are The Middle Ground Between Rubber And Spherical Bearings.

I wasn't aware of the danger of a cracked control arm. Do the control arms crack under normal conditions or does it take something like drifting to cause this. I don't drift, but I may autocross in the future.
