I just took my 2002 Venture into for a 30,000 mile maintenance and was shocked to see the estimate was $500. Here is a break down of what they recommend being done. All this was suggested without even looking at the van.

Lube, Oil, Filter, Billstein Engine Flush - $121.30
Replace Air Cleaner - 26.00
Fuel Filter Replace - $45.00
Wheel Balance (4) - 42.00
Front End Alignment 4W - $62.95
Fuel Injection System Flush - $73
In-Cabin Filter - $54.00
Replace Brake Fluid - $69.14

Could someone please tell me what is actually necessary at the 30,000 mile oil change.

Thank you very much for any input you may be able to provide.

lube, oil, and filter (no need for engine flush). And for good measure do the air cleaner too. But the air cleaner is $7 at autozone, and takes like 10 minutes to do yourself. Oil change at WalMart goes for 15 bucks. Save your money and avoid the dealer when you can. They make most of their money off of these "tune ups". I've owned many cars and only ever did a fuel filter once, and it was at 125K miles. They're probably spot on for the in cabin air filter, but again, this is not necesary for operation of your van, and if your vents don't blow stinky air, skip this one too.
Most everything on this list is something i'd probably do maybe at 75 or 100K miles. Your van is still plenty young. Make sure you're not leaking coolant into your motor (common problem on these vans if not using updated gasket material) but other than that, kick back and enjoy. They're alreayd making enough $$ on you in monthly payments.

you don't need those cabin air filters anyway, they are behind the glove box. Just pull the back of it open. there are two. I just threw mine away.

Thank you both for your input. I may have had too much done in the long run, but it is done and no where near the original list of things the dealer wanted to do.

I did the oil change, cabin air filter (which now looks like a waste of money) and the fuel filter.

Thank you again for your input.
