98 grand prix gt steering problems....bcampbell 10-19-2004, 03:29 PM :banghead: i have a 98 grand prix gt and i think the rack & pinion is going out. the steering always feels loose and so far i've had a broken sway bar fixed, i had a bolt missing from the subframe, and no matter what they fix, it feels worse. any suggestions? richtazz 10-19-2004, 06:36 PM other than feeling loose, do you have any noises while turning or a "rumbling" feeling in the steering wheel? Normally a bad rack will exhibit one or both of these symptoms. IF not, check for bad hub bearings and/or ball joints, as they will give you a loose steering feel as well. bcampbell 10-22-2004, 09:22 AM other than feeling loose, do you have any noises while turning or a "rumbling" feeling in the steering wheel? I checked and found out there is a recall on the rack and pinnion. Take a look into it. bcampbell 10-25-2004, 09:24 AM thanks bcampbell 10-28-2004, 09:12 AM I checked out the recall and found that there are 3. thank you for the info. !!! i'm taking it in on monday. deb0704us 10-28-2004, 10:00 PM bcampbell, hi, I'm new here.
