I know you can hit 11's with a CT20B, but with another 2000 dollars in upgrades you wouldnt even have needed in the first place if you had gotten a different turbo kit all together. My question is: whats the absolute cheapest way to hit 11.9 in a MII turbo? Any specific setup you guys have seen that works great and doesnt cost as much as some of the other setups?

Well, if you plan on making the same car your daily driver... it's going to be uncomfortable. Strip it to bare bones first, that's free :D mrcontrols link above is awesome too.

Na, i want to hit 11's with full interrior, and A/C. lol. :) (which is actually very possible with a car this light)

An 11 second MR2 can be quite comfortble as a daily driver ... in fact, there is a daily driven 10 second MR2 out there (full interior, all options). :)

The Turbo MR2 is not a light car, especially for it's size.

KO Racing Street Brawler kit 50 trim (~$2300)
TKO Exhaust (~$650)
Apexi Intake (~$125)
Greddy Intercooler (~800)

Tuning and installs could be free or not, depending...

But after you get all that tuned, on high boost w/ race gas I could imagine 11's being very possible.

Hmm.. What would you suggest over the other?

KO street brawler
ATS upgraded Greddy TD06?

I agree, im currently saving for a disco potato myself, its worth the money. However if you are only talking about straight line power, then spool time does not mean as much to you as a track car does. So basically i would go for the TD-04 upgrade.

If ya would like info check out www.cheapturbos.com
I have never purchased from this site however i do think it is very cheap.
Check it out

Point taken Jekyl, but he said "cheap" :D

learn how to drive your car. (a car can have 11 second potential but the driver may only have the skills to hit 15's)
dyno tune and learn the optimum shift points.
make sure your car is running well.
get a good tire and suspension setup. drag slicks like some MT's or something of that sort would help a lot.
good track conditions will help out a whole lot also.
make sure your tranny is in good shape so you can shift smoothly.
some lightweight rims would help.

i think the mr2 is alright for it's size considering the materials toyota used to make it. i remember a discussion about this on the mr2 boards a while back...

still not a light car...I saw a black mkii at the drags and my car weighs a little less than it and it's a 4dr (sentra spec v)...his car was definitely a lot smaller...I'll admit the weight is needed to increase rigidity and stabilize the mid-engined design...but I still think they could have made the car a little lighter...the weight of an rx7 r1 would be nice (about ~2500 w/o driver)...only a few hundred pounds off in stock form though
