Could i use a hydraclic tranny in my tegintegraboy_2007 10-14-2004, 07:01 PM I got a 1993 integra RS, and i've heard from some people that since i have a cable tranny i wouldn't be able to put a hydraclic one in for an engine swap, so are they right?? DBISIS 10-14-2004, 09:26 PM you can use a hydro tranny but you have to either change the tranny itself by getting a kit or go the harder way of converting your car over to hydro. crxlvr 10-15-2004, 03:50 PM yea hasport sells the cable to hydro tranny conversion. DBISIS 10-15-2004, 07:15 PM why are you doing the swap to cable trans? Most cable trans are obd-0 and most hydro trans are obd-1 so if you are swapping to an obd-0 from obd-1 or vise versa the cost will go above and beyond the normal cost. For example the place i got my swap from, $1950 for a b16a 2nd gen with hydro and obd-1 vs $1250 for b16a 1st gen with cable and obd-0. they also will do that motor with a cable trans and so should most any other place for you. integraboy_2007 10-16-2004, 09:56 PM Well i'm planinh to save enough money for a Type R swap or a ls/vtec i'm jsut trying to figure out what the privce would cost me for both and what would give out the most power DBISIS 10-16-2004, 11:48 PM The type r swap from Aerohead Accessories runs $4050 and is a better choice than the ls/vtec if you ask me. Some people say it (ls/vtec) will make more power but if you think about it the ls block has a lot less in it and was not made to rev that high. Where the type r has a lot of extras such as being balanced and being stiffened and tuned with the oil lines and extra cooling. The motor alone was designed to be a race motor but it is nothing more than a highly tuned GSR motor auctually it is a tuned GSR. The ls has a little larger displacement so it will make slightly more tq but with the longer stroke come added flex and more breakable parts, I would say good to rev to maybe 8 grand where as the B18c can go about 9k and more with minor mods. There is also the B16b (civic type r) which is $100 less and has the same capabilaties with a little less power but revs even higher and due to the ITR motor being rare and harder and harder to find the prices are going up and more people are turning to the B16b. So that may be an option for you. jcrx 10-17-2004, 09:19 AM why are you doing the swap to cable trans? Transmissions are not governed by the cars on board diagnostics. A 93 has a cable tranny, but it OBD I. Your thinking privileges are revoked. As said before, you can get the HAsport kit, or convert your car to hydraulic. DBISIS 10-17-2004, 01:04 PM Transmissions are not governed by the cars on board diagnostics. I did not mean that the trans is OBD I meant why swap to a different trans in the first place. Why not just get the original trans? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
