when boosting a KA, i know that the 300zx mafs is one option instead of the stock KA one.. is it the mafs from the 300zx turbo?? or N/A?? or do both engines use the same part?? and lastly, i found one from a 96 300zx for $185CDN.. go for it or no?? are there any other mafs from other engines that could be used??
sorry bout all the questions, just wanna do everything right

i have the mafs of a turbo z32

the price seems about right i guess

you need to do some wire splicing to get it to work tho, and i think you'll need to do something to get the ECU to recognize the new maf, i got a APEXi SAFC2which translates the signal for the ECU

you'll never learn if you don't ask

i've seen someone using a Q45 maf, and another with a G35 maf

Standalone + MAP = Teh Hottness :naughty:

The Z32 and the Cobra (I think) MAF both work and will flow enough air to get to the point that you will need a standalone anyway. but, the ECU will either need to be remapped (ala JWT) or need an SAFC to Convert the signal / modify the fuel maps

i just put in a J30 MAF today its the same as the Z32 TT or n/a however it threw my settings way off. i have no clue if i'm running rich or lean. its time for me to hit the dyno tomorrow.

whats z32?? i know its the 300zx but what does it specifically refer to??
and can't you get a tach that says if you're running rich or lean??
anyways, so i assume that the one i found is good.. from a '96 300zx n/a but tatII says its the same one as the TT..

can i put in the new mafs now? or do i wait till i install everything else? and is there much difference b/w getting my fuel remapped and getting the safc?

any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance

no body has ever gotten their cars to run right on the Z32 MAF until it gets dynoed with the SAFC. my car is running like shit now. i gotta wait till tuesday to get it dynoed.

you either need an ecu retune or safc and dyno time. im just about done with messing around with the safc because its easier, cheaper and puts out better numbers with a retuned ecu. give enthalpy a call (scott) formerly from secret services, its $500 for any retune, and he can get much better numbers and better a/f ratio than jwt.
