OK heres my deal i have a year and a half to plan a civic build up. The thing is I dont know much about hondas or four cyl. except the basics really. im just tired of building big ol high power V8s. Id like to drop in a spoon built b16a engine assy. with tranny but haven't been able to find any specs on the eng. Also not really sure which 92-95 civic would be best for the swap keeping in mind that the cost of the car is coming out of the 18,000. Id normally hit a shop in or close to my town but none of the shops here are really good with high perfomance four cyl. other than the occational intake and exhaust i wouldn't trust em with a bolt on turbo kit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So please hit me back.

Oh yeah i also forgot to mention i dont really have to worry about emmisions here the only requirment are a cat and muffler. But id still like a comfy street car so lets not go to crazy.

Ok spoon engines is not worth it. IF you have the money then go buy a fully built motor from these fellas...

www.importbuilders.com (http://www.importbuilders.com)

They have very good reputation.

the b16a turbo block looks like an excellent starting point 324 whp and almost 200 ft-lbs is just what im looking for. what about spoon trannys?

I have two answers, as a person trying to sell spoon stuff, yes they are worth their wait in gold.

Now as a person that has worked with this stuff and have read up on the specs and driven a spoon powered civic, Spoon engines and trans are not worth the money. I have a spoon b18c sitting in my shop now and it is pretty much a cherry engine that is it. Samething with the trans, it is a stock trans with slightly differetn gear ratios.

that is the spoon car that i built. I love it, but it is a b&b engine, slightly higher c/r, i think 11.3:1 or 11.5:1. Import builders on the other hand builds some nice ass engines.

By the way, where were you going to get you spoon stuff

I was going to go through opak racing. but that turbo b16a block from import builders looks mighty tempting and the price aint too bad.
then again all of the 18,000 - cost of car is going into drivetrain eng. and cooling. plus id like to stay away from turbos and nitrous for now. can a 300+ whp all motor street civic be built for my price range?

can a 300+ whp all motor street civic be built for my price range?

rofl, no. Not a chance, don't even think about it, dream about it, or consider it. A high powered naturally aspirated B-series pushed to the max and you're looking at 230-240 WHP on pump gas, and that is really pushing it.

Yo just do a search. I mean shit if i had 18g's i'd get everything from importbuilders.com. email them and tell them what you want. They'll give you good suggestions and help you out what to choose.

would it be cheaper to get an si and hunt for the extra parts to make the swap. or just pay the extra cash for the si-r?

Do you mean hunt down a JDM siR? because that will run you very high compared to just doing the swap. The car wont be that much but getting it legal for the road will be emissions testing can run about $6000 because i dont think the JDM civics has been approved for emissions yet.

Buy a hatchback dx. I think they weigh less than any other model. Swap in a gsr engine, sleeve, strengthen and turbo. Thats what I would do.The money that is left should be used for required parts for the set up. Also get some slicks for the track.
