Deckplate Modification (Intake System) - What exactly is this modification????????

I purchased a Tacoma a couple of months ago. I did not have any time to shop, moving from Ranger pickups; thinking this was a better truck. The financing made sense.

I wanted a truck I did not have to change anything, or as close to that point as possible. I am interested however in the Intake Deckplate Modification if anyone knows exactly what this is.

Additionally I will post comments about sheet steel and welding methods from the factory with another title: "2004 Tacoma SOFT BODY COMPONENTS".

In reference to lifetrddeath's link above, would I have to take the EFI fuse out the fuse box for a manual tacoma, or will that fuse only affect the computers shifting points? Does that fuse affect any other operation with in the EFI?

Taking it out won't hurt anything. From what I understand, it deletes the time-average behavior of the engine in memory and allows the ECU to start fresh - giving it a faster response to changes in airflow and mixture. In reality, the deckplate mod doen't have that big of an affect in normal driving, so you probably won't notice the difference unless you rev the engine where the affect of the increased flow is noticable.
