Any Hi-Po mods out there for 4.6 SOHC???

I finally got myself the Town Car I always wanted and I love it but now its time to hop it up a little bit. Are there any aftermarket high performance parts for the 4.6 overhead cam engines? I was under the impression that these were the precursor to the Mustang 4.6's but I heard otherwise. Ideally I am looking for a cold air intake, and upgrading the fuel system. I am putting dual 2.5" flowmaster exhaust and ditching the four cats/resonators. I'm sure that will help alot by itself. Is there anything out there? Please reply to g_whiz79@hotmail.com Thanks!

Year??? Edit saw your other post. You have the very First 4.6l offered by Ford. I'm sorry to say but theres not much you can do to the car.
Your engine management system does not really support any real performance chips. The AOD transmission is ok but later transmissions, AOD-E and 4R70W are much better and are more durable. And the later engines/models support more power adding devices read below.
Cold air intakes on these cars is a waste of time, I have read about other people that have done it say that it sounds better but does not increase horsepower, you will get better fuel economy though (cause the airflow is better). Remember these engines are not performers they were built for durability and to make CAFE standards.
Your dealing with a 4,000+ pound car, so it's going to take a lot of power to get it moving to where smaller more power oriented cars are doing.
The Mustang engines and the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car have differences so you won't be able to take Stang parts and throw them on.
And for the most part the bottomend of the engine is the same but obviously the motors are slighty different.
Exhaust helps, but it really is not that noticable. There are chips available for OBD-II cars that can bump up the shift points and make it a little more lively at the higher end.
For the most part most people have been throwing on superchargers that get them close to 300 hp. But most get rid of the engine and throw a mustang SOHC engine/tranny? (? not sure on whether they use the stang tranny) in and start from there (which takes a lot of time, $$$$ and ingentuity).
What most people have done for simple gains which will not apply to any 1991-1997 (difficult to swap). Is doing the PI headswap, which will net you about 20-30 hp. It is expensive and not many do it but it is a known way of adding some power. Those heads came out in 2001 and can only be put on 1998-2000 blocks. It will require major work to put it on a earlier block from what I've heard.
I don't plan on doing any of these thing because they really don't do enough IMO to make it worth it.
In fact I plan on getting Mark VIII or Eldorado which is much faster and not mention handles better then the Town Car.
I just drive mine as is.
P.S. DOHC 4.6l are not an easy swap either. I think the engine mounts are different and it requires *major rewiring*. And the DOHC engine may not even bolt to the Transmission.

It's a '91. It figures, I always end up with the cars you can't do anything to! Well, I guess for the time being, I will just do the exhaust. The one thats on there now is in need of being replaced anyways and in my case, aftermarket is cheaper than stock. I will use the next couple of months to figure something out and hopefully for spring I can do something. Thanks for your advice!
