Whats the best engine swap for my 95' civic ex???(3.5k-under) CivRacer95 10-09-2004, 08:42 PM Well, I don't know a whole lot about engine swaps, but I hear that the 98-2001 GSR engines are the best for your Civic. I don't know. Hope I didn't mis-inform you. Some would say to look on Ebay. There seems to be a lot of good motors for a pretty decent price there. People have their own opinions though. Late... Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 08:43 PM hey u still here?? CivRacer95 10-09-2004, 08:48 PM Yeah, what's up? Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 08:50 PM u got an ex also? Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 08:50 PM i looked on ebay they dont have any u no how much they generally run? CivRacer95 10-09-2004, 08:53 PM Yes sir, the EX model is the only one I would choose. Plus I think the 92-95's look sleeker than the 96-00's. But I would say that most would average between 2k through 4k. Let me find one and I'll post it when I do. late... Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 08:54 PM by that little whistling thingy that didnt do him any godd u mean a turbo??? CivRacer95 10-09-2004, 08:57 PM No, it's a little device that goes in your exhaust and creates the BOV sound. It's ridiculously stupid. OK, go to Ebay motors, and just look up B18C. You'll find some GSR motors. Hope it helps, any more ?'s just ask. Late... Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 08:59 PM hey man can i add u to my buddy list im kinda a dumba** when it come s to cars and ur helpin out a lot !!! hers a new question how do u set the timin on a civic i jus puta new distributor on my car and now the timin's off and it wont start!!! CivRacer95 10-09-2004, 09:02 PM Sure, I don't mind if you add me to the list. As for the timing belt, I've never actually dealt with the problem. Just start a new thread. But for you, take it to the Honda forum section. You'll see that there's a section in there for 92 on Civics/ del sols I think. A lot of guys in there know a lot about your honda. I'm sure you'll get a snag. Late... Kuntry_Boi06 10-09-2004, 09:04 PM 1 more question do u no the specs on the 98-2001 GSR B18C (got it copied for quick refernce) hp wise??? do u got yahoo meassanger??? I check it throughout the day. Here it is: vtec_racer95@msn.com Late... Boosted1 10-10-2004, 12:13 PM Your options are: B16A1 - 160hp and 111 ft lbs of torque for around $1600. B16A2 - 170hp and 116 ft lbs of torque for around $2300. B18C1 - 178hp and 128 ft lbs of torque for around $2700. B18C5 - 195hp and 130 ft lbs of torque for around $4500 (too much). H22A1 - 200hp and 161 ft lbs of torque for around $2000. If you know how to modify stuff, get the H22, a lot of power but it needs new motor mounts, etc. For a simple swap and speaking from experience, the B16A1 is a great engine, sounds great, fun to drive, and there are many modifications for it. you could put all that money you save towards a turbo or supercharger. No offence but, when you find yourself asking questions like these, I don't think you should be trying to do a motor swap. -Brian Kuntry_Boi06 10-10-2004, 02:08 PM i can get my friends dad to do it for me! k_dog 10-10-2004, 03:43 PM i can get my friends dad to do it for me! Has this friends dad ever done an engine swap on a Honda before? If so, then what was the swap if you don't mind my asking.:) -Brian BLU CIVIC 10-10-2004, 03:58 PM something u may want to find for almost the same price is the JDM engines...listed above mainly is the USDM engines...with JDM engines u have the same engine but with a lil more hp...they can be easily recognized by not having a number at the the end also...new mounting kits are coming out for the K series engine...that will most likely be out of your price range though but as far as choosing an engine...that depends on what you are planning to do to it...you abviously have plans for it or you would be swapping the enfine...if you want to go turbo..than the b18c1...all motor, than the b18c5...i personally see no reason in buying a b18c1 then dressing it up in c5 parts, makes no sence to me...if you want to mess around, then ls-vtec, which the best combination is a ls block and a b16 head...although i saw the dyno sheets where the b18c1 head was compared to the b16 head, and there was really no significant gains, so u'd be better off with the b16 head...if u want straight line speed and tq, the go h22a...those are my opnions and what has been discussed many times in similar threads such as this... but with any set-up u can go all-motor or FI...itz up to u...but all-motor is very expensive with hondas, but if u want cheap hp..nitrious is the way to go CBFryman 10-10-2004, 04:41 PM about the H22a...when swaping a D series for a B series all that is required is engine mount and ECU. there are kits since Dseries for B series is the most common swap. the H series block is much larger and requires engine compartment mods. it takes more skill than you seem to have for swapping in an H-series. and for under 3500...a B18c1 is a good way to go if eventually turbocharging... though a low mileage B18c w/o ecu will be hard do find for under 3500... may have to go for a higher mileage engine and rebuild it so yo ucan but a stand alone ECU... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
