Guys I have a 95 Eclipse GS Showcar with an awesome Bomex Stage 2 body kit and paint job, majority of engine is chromed out with minor mods like headers, aemV2 intake, sprak plugs and wires, exhaust, has a an awesome system and custom interior, BUT despite how good it looks its just not a speed demon. I'm about to graduate college and I have a good job lined up I don't mind putting a few thousand on a credit card or something but I've been reading so many things about the different turbo kits out there what do you guys think is hands down basically the best turbo kit out there REGARDLESS of Price? I've heard good things about the T3/T4, but is this one of the best? thanks
LA.
ps. keeping in mind whatever you sugguest would the internals of a 420a be able to handle the power of whichever turbo kit you sugguest.

The quality of the 'kit' doesn't have much to do with the turbo. A few thousand isn't going to buy you a big turbo setup. You'll be lucky if you get away with turboing for less than a few thousand.

If you're ready to upgrade for good, look into the costs of buying a GSX/GST.

I read the title and got excited because I thought you were going to ask what the biggest turbo that anyone has used on a DSM, and you wanted to run it.

if money is no object and your on a 420a id go with the hahn stage 5 witht he 20g muwahahahahah... pair with some forged pistons and rods if they dont include em... all sorts of head work.. a nice exhaust and a trick fmic... throw some standalone management in the loop and tie all the loose ends and your lookin at some horses....

People keep saying well you could always just get a GST or a GSX but in my case when you have so much money invested into a car like mine you have to remember it is still a 95 eclipse GS kellys blue book is worth around $3500 and no matter how nice of a car it is and how much money Ive put into it people just dont want to pay over the Kelly's. So instead selling it and getting a GST or GSX it just makes more economical sense to keep it and attempt to Turbo it as best I can.

actually i think its the other way round... when you sell your RS or GS with a turbo, you never get that money back, as you said. As with money invested in any car with any sort of mods...some high end exceptions exist, but thats it. So might as well get a GS-T or GSX so that when you sell it, the turbo factor floats the price a little higher.

take the stuff oof your car, revert to stock (OEM parts go for peanuts online), and put everything on the turbo you buy

you know i dont think your suppose to get out of a car what you got into it after a few years... i mean cars depreciate and thats something you gotta accept. especially if you have mods... when you go to sell youd have to expect pennys on your investment. now if you bought a 68 yenko camaro for 4k back in 68.. and still had it sitting around today origional.. well then thats worth close to 80k i bet... but unless you have a yearned for classic id expect to loose money on a car.

One thing you have to look at with the 420A, stock those things come with 135HP and the engine is actually a very peppy 4 banger, especailly with the manual tranny, It was also very well designed engine, props to chrysler on that. But with a turbo upgrade on that engine your going to have get better head bolts and engine internals, and the list goes on, its a lot of fokin work! There are better options though for performance... consider a good nitrous kit. Bang for your buck there awsome they keep the cars reliability and driveability with out killing gass milage or reliabilty (if used properly) You would get the same effect as a turbo with half the hassel.

Ok well that was another thing I was curious about. So with the 420a would you say REGARDLESS OF WHAT TYPE OF AFTERMARKET TURBO A PERSON MIGHT BUY that generally your going to be opening up a can of worms as far as having to redo engine internal, head work (lol no pun intended hehe), and like you said the list goes on. In other words someone could'nt just buy a turbo kit and put it on a stock motor?
Oh yea and does all that work also include a new computer? thanks

read the threads at the top, theres one specifically for your question on turboing the 420a. Id get the 4g63...it has recently been hailed and the most powerful i-4 production engine in the world (EvoII-Autoweek)
