3rd gear no go, 93 Talon non-turbo85Ram150 10-08-2004, 10:28 PM My sister drives a 93 Eagle talon non-turbo, and it is having some problems. The car is currently at M. H. Baylor, so I cant get a good look at it(Im in Houston). Well, heres what i am told...the car drives fine in 1st, 2nd gear, but when you shift into 3rd gear and drive in 3rd gear, the car shakes slightly and doesnt accelerate. You can shift and drive normally in 4th and 5th gear. There is no grinding and shifts are normal, not hard. I dont think this is a clutch issue cause it drives fine in all gears except 3rd. The engine was serviced about 400 miles before this occured(timing, plugs and wires replaced, oil change, fuel/air filters). Any idea of what this can be? Thanks in Advance!!! 1stGenRocks 10-09-2004, 11:24 AM the most likely thing is probably the shift linkage. or it could be your 3rd gear is stripped or the syncro could be bad and not letting it go in. when its in 3rd does the engine rev like its in neutral? 85Ram150 10-09-2004, 04:45 PM the most likely thing is probably the shift linkage. or it could be your 3rd gear is stripped or the syncro could be bad and not letting it go in. when its in 3rd does the engine rev like its in neutral? Well, I am told now that it does drive just shake in 3rd gear. Shake as in kinda bucking lightly, but not massively. I guess it could be the linkage, though it can be internal(not what I was wanting). Thanks for you input...any other advice is welcome...Joseph W. 1stGenRocks 10-09-2004, 10:18 PM if you find out it is the transmission ill sell you my 5 speed trans cheap. it will fit even though its from a different engine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
