trading for a 1970 datsun 510

Hey all, I have a 1973 nova that im considering trading for a 1970 Datsun 510. The datsun has some visible bondo on the rear drivers side fender and has a leaky head gasket. The guy says that the head gasket is the reason it smokes (it smokes by the way). I havent looked at the car yet, when i do go look at the car, what are some things i should be looking for? i need something thats going to be reliable (my nova is reliable). so any input would be appreciated

can anyone tell me where the gas tank is supposed to be on a 70' 510?

Jees it's been 30 years since I looked at one of those. I think the tank is right infront of the spare cavity underneath.

Had a 69 4dr that I put a 100k miles on in 3 years.

Only thing wrong with it when I sold it was the rust in all the wrong places.

Best memories of that car were of when it was "parked". - not that the flyn miles weren't memorable to though.

If I remember right - 135 was the lowest I remember getting on a test.

So this datsun im looking at has no interior besides a dash, there is fixable rust and dents on the rear drivers side quarter, minimal rust on the car besides that and a rust hole in the trunk, and needs a new ignition and lock set for both doors and the trunk. the car is in black primer at the moment, how much do ya'll think this car would be worth in cash money?

i would say below 400cdn if mine was bought for 500cdn with only rusted fenders and a huge pullable dent. gas tank will be in the trunk. if only i had my fsm with me.
