Hi,
I have the same thing, but I am not too much concerned about it.
If I am not mistaken this subject has been discussed in this forum. I believe everybody referrs to what is called "swaying".

You may find the same topic in this thread, answered by Dale:

It sounds like you might have death wobble. There are several different causes of DW, therefore several different ways to fix it. Check this site out http://www.kevinsjeepparts.com/techarticles/deathwobble.html . Also, try a forum search on death wobble. Hope this Helps!

Also, It is a good idea to include information on the year and model of your jeep along with any other information on your particular vehichle to help others identify your problem

That popping sound could be a bad CV joint, I see you replaced the boot but usually if the boot needs replacing the CV is pretty much worn out. On my CJ7 I had the death wobble and it was a front axel U Joint that was frozen with rust. Could be a related problem with your Cherokee. I also replaced both front CV/Axels on my Cherokee and the wobble problem was solved.

The same thing happens to me around 50 mph, the front wheels start shaking violently and I can make it stop by pushing on the brakes, or slowing down. It happens both accelerating through 50mph or decelerating. I have replaces the steering damper (small shock looking thing). I replaces the front drivers side wheel hub bearing that didn't help. I had it in for an alignment and they said, nope, everything is tight and no alignment was needed. So I rotated my tires rear to the front and that didn't help. I am afraid to put my kids in this vehicle because it feels like the front wheels are going to tear off. I went to car talk .com and there were several people saying the same thing. One person actually had the steering snap at 40 mph. Great! The next thing is the dealership to see if they know of a fix. I've been working on this for at least three months and have had this trouble for at least a year. At first I thought it might be warped rotors, nope had that checked early and they are fine. Any help on this subject would be much appreciated.

cv axles did the trick? Where is the cheapest best made CV axles? I have found the cheapest Hub bearings and they are BCA bearings too. He sold them to me for 40.00 each and shipping around 9.00 for one.

Yes, The CV/axel`s did the trick. I got them at my local Carquest, It was like $65 and change per side. I have my own shop with a lift so repairing is a breeze. If you are doing this yourself just use precautions and work safely.

I`m sorry I mis-spelled his name, It`s Jerry Bransford. He is on page 2 of the thread you posted. His post had interesting points on suspension wobble causes.

Mine did the same...i'd hit a big bump and the front end would not settle down it would just get worse. Changed the stearing dampener and all's good.

Try getting a new steering damper. This is the shock absorber for the steering wheel. I had the same problem and corrected it by replacing the old one with a steering damper designed for off-road use.

steering dampers only hide the underlying problem. the problem usually comes from worn out CVs, worn or loose ball joints, or worn out lower control arm bushings. check those and i bet you solve your problem. make sure to check all of your steering linkage and make sure everything is torqued down.
