Project 331 is now complete!!! Dyno numbers are as follows.90redgt 10-06-2004, 07:57 PM Project 331 is now finished being tuned. Most of the engine mods are based in my signature. Naturally aspirated, 5.4l v8---351HP@6000rpm at the wheels! Carnut, lets get together get some pics of the motor n' stuff. Also just to let everyone know this is WAY higher than i expected. I was only shooting for around 330HP at the wheels but the guy that ran the dyno was a genius and managed 21 more HP out of it. I was like  TatII 10-06-2004, 08:06 PM wow great numbers man. that should put you well in the 12's. RACER D12 10-06-2004, 08:27 PM Damn you 5.0 people make power easier then the turbo people. TatII 10-06-2004, 08:40 PM not necessarily. he did alot of work to that engine. he even upped his displacement since a 5.0 is technically a 4.9 so he upped it by another .5 liter. also all use turbo guys have to do to hit that power is by upgrading the turbo with accompanying fuel mods. hell a stock evo can make that power on a stock turbo. or a supra can make 450whp from bolt ons. 90redgt 10-06-2004, 08:50 PM Yes well, Redneck is gonna have his hands full when he comes down. I dont' fear his car as much anymore ;) j/k he's got a good car but i love mine :) -The Stig- 10-06-2004, 09:28 PM Damn nice numbers man. I'm all for a challenge. Although, my clutch is starting to slip in 4th-5th gear. :( I can't really afford to replace it currently, I could but it'd put me in the red for a while and I'm trying not to do that. So, hopefully soon I'll get that all redone. But I seriously doubt it'll be taken care of before November. But I'll still give ya a go. Just hope it holds together long enough for the drive out there, and some 'acceleration tests' and the drive home. A good 800-900 miles. Eepp. 10sec-Hopeful 10-07-2004, 11:48 AM Wow, that thing is going to be pretty damn fast. You guys should get some videos of you two racing, that would be awesome. Igovert500 10-07-2004, 12:10 PM Very nice numbers...got any future plans? I got your message regarding this, last night. I worked OT, so I didn't get a chance to call you back. Well, a 'race' between us will be VERY different now, you think? So, what was changed, from when you text'd me with the 260WHP number (pre-tune), and when you left me the message? Shows you what tuning can do to imporove a motor's output. ac427cpe 10-07-2004, 03:27 PM wow, that's impressive! /crys i need a boost controller :'( will you be at the pavillions on sat? 90redgt 10-07-2004, 10:50 PM naw i wont' be at the pavs. that's a hella long drive for me. on a new motor i'm still going somewhat easy on it until about 500-600 miles to get it broken in fully. Even though it might already be broken in. We ran 24 times on the dyno 2000 to 6000 all within 1 hour time period. pretty crazy. Carnut: Yeah basicly the only thing that Keith (dyno tuner) changed was the air/fuel across the entire rpm power band. Then after he did that, started messing with the timing, 4 degrees advance and we were at 352rwhp. 8 degrees and we went back down to 344 (on a previous run we made 345) so he set the timing back to 4 degrees advance and that was pretty much it. most of our time was spent tweaking the air/fuel mixture. He was very surprised at my power numbers. He said usually N/A 331's dont' put much more than 340 at the wheels. But i did my homework :) selected some specific parts and BAM set a new standard at least on HIS dyno that is. :) 90redgt 10-07-2004, 10:54 PM 4 years of saving up my money, 4 years of research. Cost me between 11k and 12k dollars. But now it's allll done and ready to kick ass and take names hehehee. CassiesMan 10-07-2004, 10:59 PM Damn you 5.0 people make power easier then the turbo people. But turbos sound cooler...lol chevydrummer76 10-08-2004, 01:58 AM yah turbos sound cool......but theres nothin like the sound of a screamin v8 Boosted1 10-08-2004, 07:29 AM Sounds great man, bet you can't wait to tear up the track. Keep us posted on your ET if you run it. :bigthumb: 90redgt 10-08-2004, 09:36 AM yeah i'll definately let you guys know waht it runs when i get it to the track. only one thing though. I'm gonna run 1/8 mile first to get an idea if i'm close to 12.3 then i'm gonna need a rollcage, and i dont' have one so. My first times will be 1/8 mile then i'll go from there. ac427cpe 10-08-2004, 02:18 PM just wondering, what part of town do you live in? carrrnuttt 10-08-2004, 03:27 PM just wondering, what part of town do you live in? Anthem area, IIRC. 90redgt 10-08-2004, 10:51 PM yeah close to anthem, well like 15 min. anyway. carrrnuttt 10-09-2004, 12:37 AM yeah close to anthem, well like 15 min. anyway. Where exactly? You know I moved to around the 126th Av. and Bell Rd. Area? It's a new Dietz-Crane development called Rancho El Mirage, so I'm a lot more north than I was before. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
