Hey Guy's
Friends truck is stuck in my driveway. 96 ford ranger 2.3 4cyl. w/8 spark plugs.
starts and runs but has fits of misses. if you bring the rpm up slow it will not miss.
If you try to drive it looks like granma's first time drivin a standard. OK so i got a diagnostic tool it reads and erases only. I got a code P0320 ign/dist engine speed
circut malfunction. the engine has no distibutor can't find a ign module even. I did
put plugs, wires and fuel filter and cleaned up battery termanals. Checked the grounds
checked connectors and replaced the crank sensor just in case. I was an ASE
mechanic in the paper clip days but this one has got me. Has any body seen this one before or can tell me what I should do next? things I suspect are the coil/coils pcm
or fords famous wireing! truck has 60,000 miles on it and nothing has ever been
replaced or repaired until now. so I ruled out something being left off or installed
poorly. Think I have checked all the wireing and am at a loss.

Just found this forum. I'm not totally sure about your ignition system but when I did a search on the web I came up with an ignition module that looks like this...http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/AAP/GPS/EL144.jpg maybe there is a bad connection there our an intermittent module. Regards-Stevo:)
