1993 626 ES Flashing Air Bag Light topbubble 10-05-2004, 11:59 AM
Hey Gang: My '93 Mazda 626 ES has a flashing air bag light on the dash. It flashes in a group of 4 then a group of 3 flashes. What does this mean? Is my air bag not functioning? How can I determine what the flashes mean and then re-set it so the flashing stops? Unfortunately I don't have any scan tools. I'm looking to sell the car but want to make sure the air bag is functional and safe. Thanks for your help. Keith topbubble Keith, I am having the same problem with my air bag light and was wondering if you found an answer. I will keep on looking hoping that there is a simple fix. Terry Mazdaman 01-02-2005, 02:43 PM My 93 626 is blinking a 5-3 code on the airbag light. The dealer told me it needs a new sensor and that there is fuseable link in the airbag control module which has blown and therefore also needs to be replaced. Diagnostic charge was normally $109 and they want $449 to do the repair. They dropped the diagnostic charge to $35 and are waiting for my reply.. Visited the junk yard yesterday and got a sensor and module off another 626. Now does anyone know how to test and install these? BTW the dealer told me that when the light is flashing the system is disabled. speed_1 01-13-2005, 01:56 PM I have also same problem:-( Airbag error code 52. Mazdaman: have you installed the new sensors? I found this page for the Airbags codes, but I don’t know if it’s same as 626 error list! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mx6-uk/maint/maint.htm#malfsrs Mazdaman 01-13-2005, 07:23 PM Yesterday the light stopped flashing! The bulb is still good because it lights with the ignition key . I am still trying to confirm the failure. I did get replacement parts from the junk yard and the module does have a fusible link which is not replaceable but is accessable and testable. Just have not got to it yet. The fact that the light went out leads me to belive the sensor and module are good and that there was a bad coonection somewhere. speed_1 01-14-2005, 09:08 AM Mazdaman: This is good news! I hope that can happen for me to! Mark E M 01-15-2005, 02:30 PM mazdaman, The fact that the light stopped flashing, indicates that you moved the seperated wire connection, when you were looking for the fuseable link.check those connections closely and I think you will find the problem.
